Castaways is THE GREATEST! We found this jewel on Mille Lacs and moved in! The people and service is supreme. The food is well... worth THE DRIVE! Walleye Fingers and Broasted Chicken, and reasonable cost. Read more

Staff suggested the meatloaf sandwich. It was delicious! Oil had to taste before taking the pic!

Food is decent but going to the actual bar for service is non existent unless you are a regular. Honestly, a simple "hello" or... "one moment" would be welcoming to make sure you have been seen/acknowledged. The patrons are usually all very friendly. This isone place I want to love but it is difficult with the 'anger' or 'overworked, under paid' attitudes that play through. Read more

My buddies and I fish on Mille Lacs every Memorial day weekend, so we expect the resorts and the few restaurants in the area to... be somewhat busy. We normally would go to a different place that we've been going to for a couple of years but they were closed. So we thought "let's try Castaways." Saturday morning we went for breakfast. The atmosphere was nice, cool little bar restaurantset up with a cabin style feel. Staff was polite and quick to take our orders. My order was great, I had zero complaints. My 2buddies were not pleased with their food. They both said the eggs tasted old, and the Ham was like chewing on rubber. But wepaid and left thinking maybe it was just an off day. So we went back the next day and it was packed, we were able to get a tablepretty easily but the place filled up to capacity quick. I understand that everyone is short staffed and it was also a holidayweekend but you'd think as a resort/bar restaurant you'd be prepared for a busy holiday weekend. They were not. It took 45minutes for them to take our orders and some people waited even longer. A lot of people left before and after ordering becauseof the wait time or their orders getting screwed up. The staff was very polite and kept their cool even with the chaos. And thebus boy was flying around that place to get tables open quickly. Our food once it arrived was still not great and also expensivefor what you get. Not a whole lot of options either. Again I understand that staffing shortage is an issue these days and foodsupplies are limited. But I would hate to see a cool place like this close or lose business over minor details that can beadjusted. I'm sure this place is great any other time. Give it a whirl if you're in the area, maybe it was just that weekend. Read more

Not a bad joint. The food was decent but nothing you couldn't have made at home. The drinks were a bit small, weak, and lacking... effort--Bloody Mary's were basic at best. The service was certainly adequate, and it didn't take long to receive our food. Theappeal is, the location relative to other eateries. When your on the lake, and don't want to travel far, it'll do.
