I stopped in from outta town b/c I was referred to this place & I?m so glad I did. The food was delicious?not too spicy so I... could actually enjoy the flavor of the food. The staff was outgoing & friendly. This pic is the 1st time I went, oxtail?greens &mac n cheese. I specifically told him I wasn?t coming back if wasn?t any good & guess what!?! This was my first time at Clacken's, and my food plate was plentiful. I ordered curried chicken (really good), collard greens... (excellent) and macaroni and cheese (just ok). Friendly service which was nice. I will definitely go back to try differentmenu items. Read more
I did enjoy the baked macaroni and cheese and fried plantains very delicious . Sadly there were cheap with the mac and cheese .... The oxtail and rice and peas I didn't care for too much the oxtails were very small didn't have much meat on it and it wasn'tseasoned very well tasted very plain and underwhelming . The rice and peas wasn't very good either it tasted a bit watery to myb.f and I . But I would order macaroni and sweet fried plantains by itself because that actually tasted really good . Read more
Soon as u walk in it smells like a yummy Caribbean paradise! Everything I got was on point. Curry goat, tender... BOMB, Collard... greens were a little salty but flavor was definitely there. My ppls got fried chkn which they said was delicious! Both comboscame.w/ rice & peas with your choice of side & gravy over rice. Clacken's are doing it right I'm telling u. Only giving this two stars because of the two ladies who were at the register. I went the first few weeks after opening up. The... servers are nice. The cook was rude and fish & rice my boyfriend and I ordered was nasty. I?m Jamaican so I know good islandfood. Maybe they have better options there....I don?t know. Hopefully they?ve gotten better. I absolutely love this restaurant! I recommend them to anyone that loves Caribbean food. I ate here several times and I have no... complaints. The oxtails are tender and tasty.
