When they opened - It was a Nice idea with lovely decor setting, but since the beginning - horrible customer service! They... simply don?t care. Whenever I come here - everything is slow, you need to ask multiple times if you want anything, and on theweekend they do not allow you to have tea and pastry, saying - you need to have brunch with food (it?s not writtenanywhere!????) I argued, and they allowed us to have tea and dessert only, but tea was brought in broken cups, their tablewareis awful too. Been here twice: once for takeout and once dine-in. Both experiences have been excellent. Cozy vibes, nice staff. Word of... warning if you plan to dine-in: they're a no-laptop environment so don't come here if you need to get work done. I recommendSemicolon Cafe across the street for that. Seems to be pretty popular on the weekends for dine-in. My partner and I made thechoice to visit on a weekday morning (Friday at 11am) to avoid the crowds. Worth it. You order at the counter and get a littlesign with a number on it to bring to your table if you're dining in. Back to reviewing Maman?they have the BEST cookies here.Lemon poppyseed? Excellent. White chocolate raspberry? My partner is in love with it. Not too sweet (which is the ultimate Asiancompliment). While their coffee is perfectly fine, I wouldn't come here just for my caffeine fix; their coffee is more of anaccompaniment to the pastries and food. Haven't tried their specialty drinks like their espresso drinks but am intrigued to tryon the next visit. Their food is pretty darn good though. It?s an instagramable location. That?s it. We weren?t given an estimate of how long it will take for us to be seated. Ended up... standing for long inside for a table even after putting our name down. Apart from the breads and coffee/tea, the rest of thefood was average. Items like toast to go with the eggs took over 30 mins to come to us. The bread was cold so wonder why thedelay. The service was fine, the staff courteous. Read more
I have been a big fan of Maman over the years. I used to visit their location in soho almost every Sunday after having classes... right next door. I was so excited when I heard they opened a new restaurant in Jersey City. The food is great, as always. Thewait is a bit crazy on a weekend morning. The staff has not shown enough experience with dealing with such a large crowd ofcustomers. They ran out of knives, and forgot about our coffees. Great new addition in the area. The entrance is on Grand street by the river. Overall, the food was good, but many dishes on the... menu were already sold out at 1pm, and it would have been nice if pastries were warm and crispy. Service was a bit slow - seemslike they need more servers to cover the crowd. Read more
Such a lovely place! Maman is one of my favorite chain restaurants in NYC and I?m happy that we have one in Jersey City now :)... Food is delicious, many interesting drinks (like rose latte or blue velvet cappuccino). Read more
Absolutely love the pastries, especially anything with pistachio. They do a great job with the pistachio loaf cake and croissant... - not too sweet and perfectly rich. The cafe is spacious and comfortable but don?t come here with the intention to work since nolaptops are allowed. Read more
