They had a limited menu on the day I ate there. I had the jerk chicken with Guyanese style Chinese fried rice. It was the best... Guyanese food I found in Jersey City. West Indian food is limited in Jersey City. Staff was polite. Read more

I initially went to Tropix when they opened about a year ago. I ordered about $100 worth of food, which was very tasty. I... ordered the chicken curry, it did have the wing and neck in it, I'm not really used to those pieces...however, it was verytasty. The lo mein, fried rice and jerk chicken were good too. The cook up rice was awesome. They had gourmet homemadepastries (coconut buns, pineapple tarts and cheese rolls). I was impressed, especially since west indian restaurants are rarein jersey city. The owners were so nice and welcoming. I went back quite a few times and they didn't have most of the items Iinitially purchased. I wasn't sure if they no longer carried it or if it was sold out. About two weeks ago, I stopped by andthey only had the chinese menu, which was about 6 items. I ordered the sweet chinese chicken lo mein and the pepper shrimp lomein (which I assumed was very large shrimp sauteed in pepper over lo mein). The person taking my order said the pepper shrimpcomes w/chicken. I'm thinking how does that make any sense. When I got home, I noticed both dishes were pretty much the same. The shrimp lo mein was basically small shrimp with hot sauce tossed in the lo mein w/the chicken on top. The chicken was notfresh, it was clearly reheated. I was so annoyed and thought what a waste of $30. I would have spent more money, but theydidn't have anything else to buy. And the owner/counter person was rude as heck this time. My advice to management: Beconsistent w/your hours; have some menus printed; use social media on a daily basis w/your hours and the food that is availableand stop reheating your food. The food is not cheap, I don't have an issue spending money, however I don't want burnt reheatedfood. Last but not least, try to have a positive attitude. I'm just trying to provide a realistic review for thisestablishment. Read more
