Reviews for Maria's Mexican Grill & Cantina in Joplin, MO

Was the worst Mexican food we have ever ate, the same thing that we have ordered at many other Mexican places, runs about 32 for... 2 people, the exact same thing there was almost 44 before the tip. The food had no flavor, I ordered a plain salad, justlettuce, 2 little tomatoes, cucumber slices and 4 slices of avocado, the worst ranch dressing I have ever had, was charged as ifit had shrimp on it, asked about it, he said, we don't have plain salads, so I gave you a little more lettuce. It was verylittle. It's not worth the money for what they have. If I had realized it was the Maria's that was on 32nd St. I would havestopped it right then. I have heard bad reviews for 30 years on them. I just found out first hand by accident Read more

The price vs quality of food alone was enough to make me never want to come back. I base alot of mexican places off of the... fajitas, they are my favorite! The ($18) steak fajitas I ordered where strips, much like Del Rio which I'm not a fan of either. They where almost impossible to chew, I had to spit my food out multiple times, the chicken my fiancé ordered had a bizarretaste, almost like canned chicken. The frozen mango margarita was served in a hot glass, it began melting it quickly, and thetaste of lime overpowered the entire drink, mango was at the bottom of it. I ordered queso which was pretty good, a littlelacking on the taste, and expensive ($8). Next time I will stick to the steak house down the street or Mi Toritos in Carl, definitely worth the drive there. Hope this helps to make things better at the establishment, would hate to see a business goout, but there needs to be a change! Read more

Seating was readily available. The waitress was patient and attentive throughout the meal. The salsas were fresh and delicious.... I found the mild and hot combined for and excellent flavor and spice level. I found the hot salsa to be more of a medium plusin heat and stood on its own. The chili enchilada sauce was wonderful with a nice smokey flavor. The refried beans had a smoothconsistency and the rice complimented the rest of the meal. This was my first visit to Maria's but I will be back. Read more

Maria's is one of Joplin's best Mexican restaurants. In my opinion, it is probably the best. The mild table salsa is very mild,... but flavorful. However, the hot is perfect for those that like more heat AND flavor! I mixed the hot and mild together for theperfect flavor and heat combination! The food is delicious, comes to the table hot, and keeps its temperature well once youbegin eating. Read more

Maria's is a great place to relax and enjoy delicious food with friends and family or for a quick lunch. The Ceviche is amazing,... the drinks (margaritas and sangria) are too! We always get great service, fresh food, large portions for a good price. I lovesupporting this minority owned and operated business. Read more
