Looong wait, even just to get our milkshakes. At my request, they did give us happy hour prices for the shakes. Food was OK, but... took so long to arrive, we nearly left. I understand they may be short-staffed, but 2 servers should be able to handle a dozenpeople better than what I saw. Read more
We have often been to Steak and Shake in Joplin, Mo. and service used to be great. It was one of our favorite places to eat. We... noticed over time service has started to decline. Long waits till you got your food. Tonight my husband and I went for dinner.We were seated pretty quickly when we got there, then we sat and waited and waited. No one came to out table to get our drinkorder or food order. We waited some more. The waiter was walking around but never glanced our way. We finally got up and walkedout. I want to preface my review with the fact that the people running the registers were very friendly and service was timely... considering the circumstances. First time at a Steak 'n Shake and from others' perceptions I was excited, but I think that setthe bar too high. I got the garlic burger which had decent flavor but was very salty and came with nothing but buns, meat,garlic spread and cheese. I also ordered the banana shake but wasn't anticipating a banana laffy taffy flavored shake, which wasdisappointing. I might go back to give it a second chance but won't be a priority. Read more
It is Steak 'n Shake - your classic 50's diner with delicious steak burgers, shoestring fries, and some of the best shakes... around. There was chaos the day of our visit - part of the town was without power and the computer system went down. The manageron duty was outstanding and the wait staff doing there best. Why 4 stars then? The fries tasted stale. Not the norm for thepast experiences I have had. The cook wasn't cooking. As soon as the computer system went down, he stopped. I was disappointedthat there wasn't more ownership taken. Grab a ticket, start cooking some meat. Even cooking some burgers because people arestill ordering would have been wise; yet, he checked out. First time back to a Steak 'n Shake in 20+ years. First time ever to the Joplin MO location which is just off I-44. Arrived not... long after opening. Greeted immediately and seated. 3 beverages of non-sweet tea for my wife, ice free Coke Zero for mydaughter, and Dr Pepper for me. After ordering each of our orders were spot on. Double cheese burger with fries for my wife,Jalapeno burger and fries for my daughter, triple bacon cheeseburger with rings for me. All were very good and hot. Our waiterchecked on us frequently; just close to hitting that mark of too much checking. He was very polite and personable. The insidewas clean and well organized. The outside however, needs some TLC with restriping of parking and landscaping which neededtending. About $25 with tip, which wasn't to bad. Overall a very good experience with hopes of trying one of their many shakevarieties at a later time. Read more
I had never eaten at Steak N Shake before. We stopped while in Springfield, MO.. We were greater then seated as we walked in.... Given time to look over the menu before ordering. There were busy and only had one server at the time. Our food was brought tous quickly and it was the perfect temperature. We went back that evening for take out to share with our mother for dinner. Wewere leaving Springfield to head back home to Ks. and we stopped for lunch at a different location. We received the same greatservice and food. Wish there was one in Wichita, Ks. Read more
