I would go here with my parents and Grandmother it had the same vibe as the 60s. Food and all were wonderful.
The first time here so I decided I would try three different types of dogs they have. First off was the New York style hot dog,... piled high with surprisingly good sauerkraut. I've never tried sauerkraut on a hot dog before, and if I come back to ConeyIsland I'm definitely having another one. Second what's the Chicago style dog, with a healthy portion of toppings that makes thehot dogs in Chicago look tiny :-) you earned a gold star on this one for sure. And lastly, is their namesake Coney Dog. I know alot of people love this, but I was not a fan. To me it tasted like the beef that they had on top they had boiled and water whenthey cooked it to help it crumble, then they forgot to add seasoning... I think it would have been better off just as a plainhot dog, the extra meat really seemed like it had no flavor to me. And if I go back for another New York style dog, yes I willtry another Coney Dog to see if my first one was just a fluke or if that's how it really is. Read more
Being born and raised in Michigan and having many coney dogs, I don?t know what this is. A skinless dog? Hamburger meat? NOOOOOO... this IS NOT by any stretch of any Michiganders imagination a coney dog. I was so excited to come back to my home state just tohave the ?staple? dog. So, I ordered 3. We love Coney Island, the coney dogs and sitting at the old fashion counter to eat. It is nice somethings don't change!
HAPPY DOGS!!!! The BEST hot dogs made. Wow they just have that special flavor in their chili. Been going here since I was a... kid. Every time I land back in kzoo this is a MUST go for me. A great, local hot dog shop that offers a delicious variety of lunch foods. I go for the hot dogs since they never fail to... taste amazing and are stuffed to the max. The ambiance and food are wonderful and a great local restaurant that is a Kalamzoostaple. Read more
Nice cosy place to eat & view the down area. Food was pretty good. More the just dogs!
