After researching restaurants in Kolona, we felt that this Italian steakhous had amazing reviews & would be a great place to... take friends on our trip. The atmosphere is very inviting and our waitress very attentive & kind...However, there was one pastadish on the entire menu and when we ordered it -- the waitress came back & told us they didn't have the ingredients to make it. Interesting for it to be called an Italian steakhouse with one pasta dish. So-- 3 of us ordered the highly touted pork steak &one the parmesan chicken... after a few bites ALL of us realized the meat was inedible. It was like someone dumped the entiresalt shaker on the meat. I love salt-- but this was horrible. I am not one to complain & the waitress was so enthusiasticabout the pork that I hated saying anything. She apologized, seemed surprised and subsequently took off the price of 2 meals...totally not what we intended. So my suggestion is-- if you go here make sure the chef is not having a pour on the salt day asit was awful. Read more
We had the best experience we have ever had eating out last weekend at Tuscan Moon. Everything from our food, to our drinks,... and our service was impeccable. We are recommending this place to everyone we know. What a hidden gem to find in Kalona. Shout out to Tatum for being the best waitress ever. She was welcoming, knowledgeable, confident, and attentive. I cannot sayenough about our experience. You may pay more for your food here, but it is worth it. My husband had the lamb chops, and I hadthe ribeye. Both of us were amazed with how delicious our food was. The dessert was the cherry on top. Tatum even did drinkpairings with our dessert, which were perfect. If you are looking for the perfect date night, look no further. This is whereyou need to be going!!! Read more
The decor was very nice, but you can?t eat decor. Dinner was extremely slow coming to the table between each course. Entree was... overdone and Luke warm. Drove +60 minutes to get there. Save the gas. Very disappointed. Read more
It was our first and last time visiting Tuscan Moon. Loved the atmosphere but that was all there was to love about it. We had... the house salad with housemade gel-ly vinaigrette that was very sweet. Waited 30 minutes after we finished the salad to get thedill salmon with linguine that we were splitting. Bowls were cold, food was barely lukewarm, we couldn't taste the dill and thesalmon was chopped into tiny bites mixed throughout the linguine which was such a weird consistency and hard to find as therewasn't much of it. I had an old fashioned and the maraschino cherries it was topped with it must have had more of the juice init because it was overpowering the whiskey. It wasn't worth the $40 we spent, also it added an extra charge for using a debitcard. It was a waste of our time and money. Read more
This restaurant has the most extensive wine selection in Iowa. The food is fantastic the environment is unique the building is... beautiful the owner is very knowledgeable with the wine Selection. The waitress and rest of employment makes a person feelrelevant and special. Prices are a little higher but worth the cost Read more
I loved the Tuscan Moon Grill on Fifth. Outstanding service and meal! The Tuscan Moon has the best wine selection I?ve seen at... any restaurant in Iowa. All of the staff were very personable, courteous, and helpful. I highly recommend the Tuscan Moon Grillon Fifth for any special occasions or just a night out with that special someone! Waitress was very nice. Live music was good. Chicken Marsala is my go to entree when I go out but seemed lacking in the Marsala... flavor. We sat in the outside patio area. Nice quaint town. Read more
Had the Tuscan shrimp burger for lunch. It came with kettle chips. The burger itself was juicy and had a great garlic finish.... Would be nice if they offered fries or a salad to go with the burger, the chips fell a bit short. Creme Brulee was great. Read more
