I was very impressed with Clay & Fire. From the host and server to the atmosphere and last but not least the food. It was all... top notch. The food was lightly seasoned to perfection. I had a Georgian dish and the meat was so tender and flavorful and thelight seasoning really allowed the flavor of the dish to come out. My wife had a vegetarian kebab and she was very pleased! Therestaurant is in a house and it only added to the ambiance. The wood and low lighting made it very romantic. It was busy but wecouldn't feel it. Check this place out foodies Read more

My new favorite restaurant in KC! Clay and Fire offers incredible authentic Turkish/Middle eastern beverages and dishes. I came... in having had Yumurta Cilbir before, and was blown away with their perfectly balanced preparation. We also had the dahl, C&Ftrio, and burnt basque cheesecake. All were so tasty. Additionally, the staff was beyond helpful, kind and enthusiastic. Theraised patio offered a cozy yet airy dining experience. Down to the Turkish coffee and dishware, everything was thoughtful andexecuted perfectly. Plenty of vegetarian/vegan options too! Read more

Can I sing enough praises of this place? I don’t think it’s possible. I’ve been trying to go here for close to a year,... after I first drove by late at night and saw the cute little historic house they’re based in and the intriguing name in neonlights. And after googling them, I fell in love with their menu, but their limited hours never seemed congruent with my tripsthrough Kansas City. Let me tell you: it was worth the wait. Some of the most interesting spices and flavors and perfectpreparation of any restaurant I’ve ever visited. This may now rank up there in my top 10 favorite restaurants in the country. The Georgian kebab I had was absolutely juicy and succulent on the inside and perfectly spiced and charred on the outside. TheTurkish peppers were beautifully roasted and immensely flavorful. The polenta was creamy and slightly cheesy with a delicioussalty, spicy crust on top. The ice cream was a fascinating mix of sweet and savory. Future visits to K.C. will definitelyincorporate this restaurant–even if I have to adjust my trips timing to fit within their limited schedule. Read more

An incredible experience every time! Half my family is Turkish and I love the different Middle Eastern options that they offer... on their menu. They put their own spin on dishes and offer other cuisines I've never tried, but everything I've gotten has beensuperb. They also change their menu so there's always a reason to go back! Read more

We’ve been to Clay & Fire twice in the past two weeks and love it. We went once for dinner (made reservation in advance) and... once for brunch (they don’t take brunch reservations). Loved loved both experiences. The food is unique and delicious, atmosphere is unlike anywhere else, and staff was very knowledgeable and helpful when picking dishes! Would 10/10 recommend toanyone who likes to get adventurous with their dining! Read more

Amazing food representing some unique cuisines that are hard to find in this part of the country! Each dish was beautifully... presented and delicious. The space is very small but decorated nicely and the ambience really fit the cuisine. We went forbrunch - I would love to go back and try dinner soon too. The khachapuri and really all the breads were phenomenal - the texturewas perfect and you can taste the wood fired oven! The only issue was that we were originally told the wait time would be 15-20mins, but it ended up being about 1 hour and 15 mins - however the staff kindly apologized and credited an appetizer which wasvery appreciated. Unfortunately, I came in with high expectations that were not met. My girlfriend and I stopped by for an early dinner on a... Wednesday night and were seated immediately upstairs. The ambience was lovely, but the food was hit or miss. We both reallyenjoyed the eggplant mezze and the beet tartare. I thought that the koobideh kabab was excellent and very juicy. However, thetikka kabob was a bit overcooked and could use more flavor. Similarly, the halloumi was very dry. My girlfriend enjoyed thekharcho, but personally I was not a big fan. I think the textures and flavors were fairly boring. Perhaps most upsetting wasthe duck fesenjan. We normally LOVE fesenjan and have eaten it in several restaurants across the country. The duck meatball didnot work for the dish at all - frankly, it both smelled and tasted unappetizing. Overall, though there were a few dishes thatwere good, nothing was particularly memorable or comparable to the Mediterranean meals we've had elsewhere. I'm sorry to saythat I likely will not return.
