We found this diner in McAllen and really liked the breakfast choices. Found another location in Katy and having the food a... second time confirmed it was a good place. Our server Brenda was amazing. She greeted us and everyone else when she could. That was nice it really showed that they work... together as a team. It was our first visit there. And we saw on multiple occasions staff talking to the other patrons in lifeconversations engaging as a friend. That was pretty cool and unique. Hi Black Bear FAMILY!!! My FIRST experience today was nothing short of AMAZING!!! My best friend & I have wanted to stop in &... eat for awhile.. however always busy. Since this is her birthday month I decided to surprise & treat her to breakfast. Jarodgreeted us with a warm smile & greeting as we walked in @630am. We told him this is our 1st time & he assured us we would loveit. Then our friendly, cheerful, attentive & knowledgeable waitress Brenda was super great too!!! Then to top it all off wereceived a blessing?another customer/young man (from California)who sat behind us paid for our meals!!! We were totallysurprised when Brenda told us. Tri-tip sandwich was amazing, one of the best I've ever had (even compared to east coast where I grew up). Sweet potato fries... were not too salty, and could really taste the sweetness of the potatoes vs. salty flavors. Pancakes were very filling and had ahint of sweetness and vanilla. I was excited when I read the reviews. I looked forward trying their food. Boy, was I disappointed once I got the chance. I... order the meat loaf with mashed potatoes, green beans and house salad. The salad came first, and it was pretty decent. You know,it's hard to mess up on salad. When the main course was served, my mouth watered like a hungry wolf. I bit into the meat loaf,because meat loaf is my all time favorite, and my feelings were hurt. They missed the mark on that meat loaf. It was sweet,cold, and just flat out disappointing. I came with a friend for the first time and I was not impressed at all. The food was mediocre, nothing special. The hash browns... were my least favorite item. The food is really cheap so I wanted to like it but Sunday just wasn?t a good day. I gave 2 starsonly because the waitress was really nice. My friend and I were sat right in front of the kitchen and watched the person on expohandling food and he never once washed his hands. There was a lot of chaos going on to say the least. I would not come back tothis location. Even if I went to another location, I would not want to be sat in front of the kitchen. Read more
