The Flying Dutchman catered our meeting for lunch today and I had the clam chowder soup and it was wonderful so I had to come... back at dinner and get some more. I also ordered a half a dozen oysters on the half shell and sat outside and enjoyed theevening. The oysters were extremely fresh and very flavorful. They came with cocktail sauce and horseradish. I ordered a bowlof the clam chowder and it was a perfect early evening dinner. The clam chowder is honestly one of the best I've ever had. Iwould have given this five stars except I really didn't eat a meal so I don't know how those are but what I had was verygood. The server was very attentive and helpful and my food came out quickly. Service was decent; just a few minute hiccups, but overall good. The Whitefish Victoria is excellent! It's perfectly pan fried... and the lemon caper sauce isn't overpowering! This was our first time to eat at the Flying Dutchman and the atmosphere was very comfortable and cozy for our group of 30 plus... for a birthday party. My platter was filled with many types of fried seafood. It was good. My only complaint was the taste ofthe fried fish. I enjoyed it but it was a different tasting type of fish. And the portion size for the soups were small also. Iwill add that dessert was delicious. I also asked the wait staff for coffee and specifically asked for decaffeinated to whichthey told me they didn't have any. We asked the manager and he told us they did have decaffeinated coffee.
