Me and my guy went here to eat since we had some time off from trucking for a few hours and this was one of the most amazing... experiences. From when you enter until you leave. Amazing food, friendly service and such a beautiful place to dine. Definitelyworth the money and worth a visit. They have a three bean salad that is so good. Something so simple but so perfect. Wunderbar! I was here on business and looked up restaurants in Kenosha and found this. Worth all the 5 star ratings. Great... food, more than ample portions. Had the German sampler, was not disappointed. Friendly wait staff, our server Louise was asnice as could be. Just a friendly place, relaxed atmosphere with no rushing. Read more

House of Gerhard, a staple in Kenosha since 1964. A literal mixing of supper club and old world German style food, housed inside... a rustic building featuring lots of dark wood, cool, kitschy bar related items and lots of twinkle lights. You definitely getthe feeling of Old World cool walking into this place. I personally loved the bar area as it really hit the nostalgia "days ofyore" sitting in the low bar, swivel seats and watching tons of Grasshoppers and Pink Cadillacs being handmade by thebartenders. We thoroughly enjoyed the servers and hostess, they were very nice, but a bit of advice... the bar is small and thepatrons can hear you when you complain about being swamped or how backed up you are... we get it too and sympathize, but we arehere for your best, as well... enough about that... on to the food! We stuck with the German side of things tonight and didn'torder the prime rib or fish which, on another visit I would certainly try! We loved the pate served with crusted, seasonedFrench baguette slices. The kidney bean salad was good, but I wanted a bit more seasoning, however not atypical of aGerman-style restaurant! We also liked the homemade apple spice muffin and the rolls, but one of our rolls look like it had abite taken out it, which made me wonder if they were reserving unused rolls and didn't check this one? The clam chowder wasdecent but felt the chicken broth base was overpowering and really made me question if it wasn't cream of chicken soup. Iabsolutely loved the spaetzel and the slight pan fry that gave it a good crisp. The schnitzel was good as well and the gravy itcame with was on par, flavor-wise! I enjoyed the stroganoff as the beef was tender and easy to shred apart. I wish I had gottenmore mushrooms in the sauce, though but it was so good, I wanted to lick the pan! Beautiful, sit in the dark cozy room or in back by the windows, and savor the fantastic food and attentive staff. Good was a... bit earlier than our usual fare, but the flavors made it worthwhile. Looking forward to many happy returns. Read more

One of the premier German restaurants in the U.S. It?s Family owned in Kenosha. All the food is fresh cooked from scratch.... Better than most restaurants in Germany. The Bratwurst and Knockwurst dinner platter with sauerkraut and fresh potatoes andcarrots was incredible. It is award winning for a reason. Service was excellent thanks to Beth. The owner came over to checkon us and she was a lovely person. Price was very reasonable and portions huge. We were in heaven!! Read more
