Delicious quick sushi spot along the downtown strip! Not a lot of extravagant options for sushi but I got a salmon crunch roll... with eel sauce and it was yummy! The egg rolls are crunchy with a great sauce. Only comes with two, though, so prepare for thatlol The staff was very attentive and did a great job with clearing our table & water refills. Just when u thought Soon's has cornered the market in Kenosha for sushi....ONO! Theres a new sheriff in town! My 1st time... trying this place out with takeout...I only have Soons to compare it to, so thats what I'll do. 1st up Bulgogi bun: beef didntLOOK like much:. No sear, no sizzle. Just dull brown chunks sitting in a raw-looking dough. But 1 bite later... such sweetflavorful meat being hugged by a light airy cottonball patty of bread. It felt indescent to eat this in public. I had to closemy eyes before opening my mouth for the next bite. 2 of these were more than enuf! Ion even think Soons offers this... Nextseaweed salad:. I've definitly had this at Soons. Portion size is smaller here. Perhaps due to the half a cucumber they slicedup under the seaweed. Soons dont use cucumber?! Going in... this is a much sweeter version...and it's good. I. Could Not. Stop.Eating. It. I had to pull myself away to try the main dish (definity finished it tho) The California Roll. (ALWAYS start withthe basics when trying a new place) Again, portion size is smaller than Soons. Taste is extremely similar also. But Soons winscuz theirs is made fresh to order. The rice is still warm when ordering from Soons. This was cold and uninviting. As if theywere made for the peasant California Roll eaters earier that day. Also, foiled wrapped ginger...not classy (and smaller portionthan Soons gives) Also, once i break the chopsticks, hard to tell which end is which (just sayin..made sushi life a bitharder) Overall, lots of good, very little bad. Walking into Ono, you know you're walking into some place special. It is elegantly decorated and has an air of sophistication... without being too fancy. Service was friendly and helpful. I had the house sake to drink. The sake was smoothe and smokeywithout being astringent. For appetizers, my wife and I had the Beef Bulgogi Bao. The Bao bun was soft and pillowy and the beefwas tender and had amazing flavor. My wife had the Smoke Crunch Roll, she said it was delicious and had the right amount ofspice. I had the Spider Roll and ordered the Sake/Smoked Salmon a la carte. The tempura crab in the Spider Roll was crispy (asit should be) and the roll had a nice hit of acid. The Sake was absolutely amazing, the salmon was smoked perfectly and had suchan amazing flavor. Would I go back to Ono Kenosha? Oh yes! Read more
We saw this place on our bike ride through town and decided to come back for dinner. We made reservations, and glad we did. From... the time we arrived, to the time we left, it was busy. Every table full, by 6pm Friday, and a constant stream of take out andDoor Dash orders quickly going out the door. We're definitely coming back!! Read more
The BEST. I love the Ono crunch roll. All of the appetizers are amazing. Salads are awesome. Miso soup is top notch. LOVE the... quail eggs and the soft shelled crab too! Really reasonably priced and in a great downtown location. Read more
