I am from Michigan and am visiting a friend. She told me this was the best Mexican Resturant, after trying food and drinks, I... have to say that this is AMAZING. We even got to talk to the owner. She was very kind and enjoyable to talk to. Our server,Marina, was very sweet and kind, as well as accommodating. Read more

Another one of those hipster Mexican places. Very “white” Mexican food. The rice had no flavor. There is no chips and salsa... brought to the table, you have to pay for it. The tables were very small, the server was nice, and service was quick. I hadtwo drinks. The Judge - ?????????? delicious. Light tasting. The Whistleblower - very sweet and heavy tasting. Read more

I am originally from Los Angeles, CA so I’ve been to several authentic Mexican restaurants. I’ve been to many “Mexican”... restaurants in Ohio and the Midwest in general since I moved here a decade ago and I am always disappointed because they havethe audacity to say they serve Mexican food when in reality they don’t. However, each time someone tells me about a Mexicanrestaurant to try I go in hopes that this time it will be different. Let me tell you, tonight it was totally different. TheBattleground is by far one of the BEST actually authentic Mexican restaurants I’ve ever been to out of the 29 states I’vevisited. They have two cute outdoor seating areas, they have a bar area indoor, and an area for general seating area. The decoris intimate and the staff is so helpful. I asked tons of questions and they were so patient with me. Rush hour started around6pm and it became a little hard to hear my partner but we just sat a little closer to each other, which wasn’t an issue foreither of us. He ordered the Jicama Salad and I ordered the Chile Sorpresa. Both were deliciously cooked and clean presentation. We ordered the Tamal Chocolate, which was ammmmmmmmmmazing. We are so excited to return for taco nights and to see the livemusic they have on Saturdays. This place is a gem! We sat close to the kitchen so we got to take a look at everything that cameout and it was so hard to not keep ordering more items. I unfortunately didn’t wear my stretchy pants. The pictures heredon’t do it justice. Oh and I almost forgot to tell you about the driiinnks - I got the Jam Cider (lots of berries) and baegot the Buena Noche (pomegranate, mezcal, and I forgot what else). They were both so delicious! We are definitely ubering nexttime so we can have more than one. Read more

Great, out of the way place to eat. If the weather is nice, the outdoor patio dining is open and inviting. My Carne Asada... "Street Tacos" were very good, the steak was tender and juicy. I tried the Triple Jam Cider and it was excellent, but they dohave lots of other IPA's, Stouts and other drink selections, if you prefer something more standard. For desert, the Flan wasgood, but the Churros were tremendous. Definitely a restaurant worth a try! Read more

Off the beaten path and about five minutes from downtown Kent. Absolutely worth going out of the way. This is hands down the... best Mexican restaurant in Ohio. If you have travelled around the country or have been to Mexico, you will be grateful to havestumbled on to this place. This place is five stars all around -- the food, the drinks, the atmosphere. We had entrees andtacos -- both were amazing. The cocktails are made with fresh juices and home made syrups. The owner also visited our tablewhich was a nice touch. The interior is classy and a surprise given the building is a little underwhelming from the outside. Wewill be back. And a word to others on this platform... it is embarrassing to expect or demand "free chips and salsa" and demandthat Mexican food be cheap. Mexican food is a cuisine like any other -- and it is amazing when it is done well. Don't act likesomeone from Ohio who has only been to Chi-Chi's. Read more
