Ubuntu Street Café is a restaurant operated by Project Feast's Culinary Apprenticeship Program. As such, it's open briefly on a... few days. The rest of the workweek is dedicated to training immigrant and refugee cooks for local work in commercial kitchens. Ican not overstate the value of this program. That said, my review is devoted to Ubuntu's food. It is outstanding. I've enjoyedceviche, herby cucumber salads (topped, as I always hope, with sumac), and warming, meaty stews. When I visit, I tend towardsmall plates, but I have also appreciated the entrées. Today, I stopped by for esquites, which was tart and toasty. The menurotates seasonally and as apprentices move through the training program. Ubuntu Street Café is open Wednesday-Friday from11am-1pm. Read more

Such a great cafe! The staff are very nice and check on you often, and a great selection of food to choose from! I had the... Kikil, tender meat on rice and the warm beet salad. Good combination of flavors and the Ethiopian theme. This is a great placefor apprentices to gain new skills and services. Most of the seating are outside the cafe in the mall area, but it is wellattended to by the waitstaff. It is also nice to read through people's postings outside the windows of the cafe, where peopleshare stories, poems, photos and more. This has a greater meaning of ubuntu.
