It had been a long time since I visited, but they had flavorful, hot food and friendly service as I remembered. Maybe next time... they won't be out of wings and roast chicken which I wanted to try. The fish & okra is always good. Especially when I'm tootired to make it myself. Oh & don't forget the spicy seasoning packets! Read more
Let me just say that Golden Chick is my favorite restaurant to buy chicken at but I am so disappointed that this is the location... closest by my house. The drive thru workers are always rude and CONSISTENTLY get my order wrong. I really wish there was anotherlocation in Killeen that I could frequent but from now on I would rather drive to Heights than come here. Read more
UPDATE 7/30/22: Today I ordered the fried chicken. I went through the drive thru so I didn't see it until I got home. Right away... it looked like the chicken may have been old. It was weird because the chicken was hot all the wait through but it was extragreasy and the grease had that cakey feeling in the roof of my mouth, so maybe it was the frying oil that was old. I went therea little after lunch time so I'm not sure why the chicken and the oil would not be fresh. I'm disappointed in thistrip. ____________________________________ Had the catfish.. it was cooked well but had no seasoning. GC employee told me that they sold out of catfish so, I then ordered ???? . My Mom was the first to notate that the ???? wasn't... fresh and it was barely warm. I went back through the drive thru only to have the employee express her surprise that we actuallywanted fresh food!! OMG!!! Anyway, the manager on duty took care of it. We were not pressed for time so, we waited the extra 15minutes for a fresh batch to be cooked. Normally I wouldn't wait as a situation like this would have ticked me off so bad but,since my Mom has had to fight off cancer this year, I try harder now not to get upset as this is a small potato kind of thingand not a cobra bite. Had an okay atmosphere! However, the food and the service was absolutely horrendous! I had a simple order that apparently became... very complicated. I literally had to wait 37 minutes to get my order! And not one associate or manager attempted to apologize tome about it. I guess they thought I didn't notice, because I didn't fuss and/or complain. I just got my food and left. Uponeating that food, hours later, I was very sick. Ended up with food poisoning, and I was holed up in the house sick on my dayoff. Maybe they just had a bad night.
