We used to eat at Mel's (Kitchener) very regularly and enjoyed it no matter what meal we were ordering. During COVID, we... supported them through picking up take-out orders. With their new reduced hours and changes in our own schedules, it hasn't beeneasy to get in but we finally went in for lunch today. Our server, Brianne, was lovely. Friendly, attentive, professional, kind.I ordered a BLT with the bacon extra, extra crispy "Tell them to burn it." I even said to our server. My husband ordered his oldfavourite at Mel's, The Elvis Burger. We both had coffee; his was hot, mine lukewarm and kind of bitter. Our food portions werevery good. The bacon on the BLT was disappointing; far from crispy and I left some of the most limp pieces on the side of myplate. Half of the sandwich had just one very thick slice of tomato which I set to the side as it was all coarse, white core andnot juicy red tomato. I left half of my hash browns, too; not hot and lacking flavour. My husband enjoyed his burger and it washot but he said it lacked the flavour and that unknown "something" from Mel's of the past. What an amazing local diner. Lots of selection and the double patty burgers, the 14 year old teenagers couldn't finish it all.... Great size portions. Coming in with a boys baseball team and the weather was nice so we sat on the patio and it was perfect. Sogood we came back the next day as well. Thanks ???? Read more

It was my first time here. Firstly, the ambiance of the diner is just amazing. Very retro and classic look. I absolutely loved... it. I ordered french skillet and pancakes. I have to say that it was amazing. The chicken in french skillet was amazing and soocrispy. The combination of eggs, chilli, chicken and cheese was just a perfect combination and i loved it from its very firstbite. Though this kind of food is different to what i am used to eating, I still very much love this variety of food and Idefinitely do plan on visiting again and try more of their food varieties. One word for it is - awesome. The food is awesome, the vibe is awesome and the service is awesome too. Loved the whole old... Hollywood 50s and 60s classic theme. They even made the post covid booth separation curtains turned to old Hollywood iconicscene posters. The staff makes sure that you feel warm welcome and personlizes the experience by sharing friendly chat with you.Must visit if you are visiting the neighborhood. Read more
Was looking for a diner in this area and bumped into this place whilst visiting Kitchener. When we first went in it seemed very... odd as no one came to seat us down for sometime despite seeing we are waiting. Once we were seated the service was quick. Lovedthe retro ambiance and was surprised how big the place was. Liked the menu which had a lot to pick from. Portions seemed likea decent size. The fish and chips looked humongous in size and the waffle with chicken also looked great. Read more
