The service here was really good, enough to get a great tip. The almond chicken was great and the bbq pork was ok. I alone... ordered the egg drop soup and it was extremely thick. Almost like a thick pudding. I kept doubting it with each bite I took, butdidn?t listen to myself. Then today I woke and could not stop vomiting. I can almost guarantee you it was the soup. My husbanddid not order it and he was fine. We were actually there one other time we realized once we got there but could not remember thevisit , now I know why, the food was mediocre. My Family stopped in for lunch and we were seated fairly quickly. However no one ever came back to our table! We waited as the... server walked past us for over 15 mins. Not a full house and there's only about 6 tables. Being able to see and hear around us,as everyone else has been served drinks and had a chance to order, we were concerned. Great little place with a charming Chinese decor. Very friendly staff and willing to explain anything on their very extensive... menu. The items we ordered were all very fresh and so delicious. We ordered the wonton soup and hot and sour soup. Both perfectin texture and flavor. We also ordered a plate of pork dumplings and a plate of vegetable dumplings. Both tasted so fresh,although I personally prefer the pork, which had plenty of flavor. Prices were moderate, but reasonable. This was our 1stvisit and a pleasant experience. Read more
We wanted away from the beachfront crowds so we stopped and grabbed some quick takeout from this place not long before they... closed. Staff was super friendly and even brought our order out to our car. While we were deciding what to order a coupleeating at a table told us they'd been coming to Chopsticks for 30 years and have never had a bad meal! We ordered the ChickenChow Mein (which was actually Lo Mein- but some of the best I've ever tasted and I am a Lo Mein FAN!) and the Sweet and SourPork. The pork was perfectly cooked and crispy with fresh, crispy vegetables and traditional sweet and sour sauce. Definitelycheck this place out if you're in La Mesa! Read more
Had a slight disappointment when today when I found out that their Japanese chef was not available and that the Japanese food on... the menu was temporarily not available, but that just goes to show how much they believe in authentic and good food that don'tpush chefs that haven't mastered certain recipes to cook. I had the curry with chicken and it was still delicious, even thoughit wasn't what I came to get. The interior of the restaurant is cozy and welcoming and sets the atmosphere. And the service isgreat and friendly, not only knowing menu items but also showing a passion towards all of them. Read more
This place is great, the food is excellent- every time. I'm vegan, and I can only vouch for their veggie options, and I will... say they are great. The have a large menue and most items can be made veggie. They have great sauces and flavors, and alldishes that I've had have been top notch. My wife and I like to come here at least once or twice a month, and every time weleave looming forward to coming back again and trying another dish. Read more
