OMG! Definitely the best BBQ I have had in the San Diego Area. If I say more I will be in trouble. Got the burnt ends and beans... and collard greens! Too bad I am leaving today this is great. It?s also a great story of how they started during Covid. Stopand eat here!! I have to add tot he review. I had to get more food to try!! Ribs! Smoked and cooked perfect. Not falling offthe bone. That perfect tenderness where you actually bite the meat off the bones! And the dirty chicken soup! You have to trythat. I could eat a pot of the collard greens! Read more

Very good. I ordered the hot link plate, and the price is good and especially when I saw that you basically have double... servings. I really wanted barbecue. And it didn't make sense for me to barbecue for one person LOL so I'm glad I tried thisplace and I will be back!!! . The people are very sweet. And It was very neat and love how they decorated it. Very welcoming..you can tell that they really care about their service and how your food is made. And even my food was packed up in a way thatshows that they took the time to do it properly. It was perfect like they don't even just like throw everything in the bag ..very good service I will be back Read more

Its a nice place and I hope they do well however, the brisket had no flavor except 'meat', did not taste smokey at all and there... was no red ring. The burnt ends tasted better because of the sauce on it but still not what I was expecting. Maybe I am justused to all the Texas BBQ I eat. I do want to go back and try their beef ribs though. Will update then again. Read more

I-Que-BBQ is a must have BBQ place. If you are ever in the area do yourself a favor and get a tasty cut of meat done the right... way by this small but quaint establishment. It's hard to find a place that does Mesquite smoked BBQ the right way. The balancebetween the smoke, the BBQ sauce, and the meat itself is top notch here and can't be rivaled by any other place in San Diego.Located in a small strip mall within a stone's throw from the 94 and 125, it could be easy to miss this gem if you happen to bedriving down the road. If you're like me and have dabbled in smoking meat, you know how easy it is for mesquite to overwhelmany cut of meat. Not with Tyrone, aka "Coach T". It is clear he puts pride into every dish and I am honored to have had theopportunity to have met him. A gentle giant that treated me like family. With "Miss P" ringing you up at the order stand andgreeting you with a smile how can you not feel the southern comfort that is provided by this place. I will most certainly beback and I can't recommend this place enough to anyone looking for that "hole-in-the-wall" home style smoky barbecue. I had theBrisket Burnt Ends sandwich, cowboy caviar, and Buffalo mac n cheese with pulled pork on top. All delicious! Other people in myparty had the brisket plate and smoked ribs. Nothing but smiles and full stomachs. Read more

Wow. Stopped in here on a whim and had the rib dinner. The food is good but they really went hard in the paint for service. Very... friendly people who made sure I had everything. It's hard to say if you'll like it, because barbecue is intensely personal. If,like me, you think Phil's is too sweet, definitely give this place a crack. It's smokey without being in your face aboutit. Very positive experience. Would recommend. Read more

Not a real BBQ place. ?based on the what was ordered? Reason 1. Brisket is cut with the grain as shown in the picture. No true... BBQ place would do that or make such an amateur mistake like that. Reason 2. Brisket is bland. Was this boiled then smoked?Where?s the bark? Where?s the flavor? Reason 3. Burnt ends are delicious if you can find them. Not sure what I ordered. It wasmore like charred fat. Real BBQ places have a very limited supply of burnt ends and is usually sold by the pound. Reason 4. Whywould you smother sauce all over the burnt ends? Why are you trying to hide the flavor? Quality BBQ does not require sauce. It?sdelicious straight from the smoker?well after the meat has time to rest. What I ordered? Baked Beans: It?s edible. Needssomething? Beef Hotlink: Tasted more like a sausage than anything. Not my flavor or texture. Brisket: Bland. No bark. It was asad plate of meat. Burnt Ends: More like lightly charred fat triangles. Smothered in sauce?just why? Collards: It was edible.Doesn?t really complement the food ordered. Drummies: It?s edible. I?m not trying to be mean or anything, but this is a veryamateur BBQ restaurant. I get it, there?s a lot of food to be prepped, but come on. Trying to pass this food off as BBQ is apathetic joke. This place is edible, not enjoyable. Why are the reviews so high? ?because the reviewers are. Welcome toCalifornia. Read more

We stumbled upon this place and saw that it had great reviews. We each had a sandwich, one was pulled pork and the other was... brisket. Both were very good and full of meat. Just the right amount of sauce. Mmmmmm! We will be back to try other dishes anddessert. Read more
