Nice cozy place, we were greeted and seated quickly, our server Ashley was phenomenal, had our drinks (which were great) served... quick, the food was great and cooked as we asked. The menu says that the meals are made to order and may take longer-which isfine because who wants to eat microwaved frozen pre-made anything?. The food was delicious and Ashley was very attentive andmade sure we didn't have to ask for anything. It was a nice dining experience, and something that's not found in mostrestaurants. All the staff were friendly and attentive to all their guests, will definitely be back! Definitely recommend. Themenu offers more than just oysters, streaks, (prime cuts too) seafood, frog legs, hamburger and prime rib sandwiches, withplenty of sides that went with entrees or as an add on. Y'all! ???? Have! ???? To! ???? Stop! ???? Here! ???? If you're anywhere near Lake Alfred, this place is definitely your go-to... for some amazing chow! Daughter got the crab cake dinner and we all got a taste - definitely in the top 5 crab cakes I've evereaten! Hubby and I got the specials (Gary Special & House Special) which were basically pseudonyms for "I-can't-decide" and"It-all-looks-good"! ???? Frog legs were cooked perfectly, gator had an awesome seasoning - so yum!, best clam strips EVER, andhush puppies that I would order instead of donut holes - man! Tried alligator appetizer.. it was delicious. Fried green tomatoes were off the charts. Never tried fried lobster before and... glad I did at Gary's. I am already planning on bringing my sister and her husband here next time they visit. The first time wecame was about 10 years ago for our anniversary. This was also an anniversary meal. Gary's is so delicious! And the staff were so attentive and friendly! We went at 8pm on a Friday night and sat right away. ... You have got to try their chargrilled oysters! We got half parmesan bacon & half jalapeño bacon Oh! My! Goodness!! Soooooogood! We ordered the blackened prime rib and blackened grouper and they were both cooked to perfection! The prime rib had adelicious rub on it and the meat was so tender & juicy. The grouper also had a delicious flavor and the fish was beautifullycooked. It was perfectly flaky & not overcooked which is easy to do to fish. The baked potatoes and hush puppies were yummy aswell! And then I got Gary's signature Strawberry ???? Based on some of the reviews here, I really wanted to love this place. Unfortunately, it doesn?t live up to expectations. The... good - the blackened grouper sandwich. The gator appetizer was also a good choice. Fried scallops and the flounder were prettygood. The bad - all the sides we had. Fries were under cooked and not salted. The onion rings looked amazing with fresh batter,but had no seasoning and were not crispy at all. The fried catfish (along with other fried items) lacked basic seasoning, asmall amount of black pepper and salt would go along way. Final thoughts, the 3.75% fee on credit cards is a joke and you canonly ask yourself why would they want to force customers to pay with cash.??? Overall the place is ok and fits the need of thelocals, but Gary?s would struggle if located in a bigger city. Read more
