So being from New York every place I have ever travelled I have seen a garbage pizza place bearing the New York branding. This... is similar but calling yourself California taco maybe accurate. The food was greasy, had a very high rice to meat ratio andthough the woman was super nice to me she was not so nice to the person who came in to complain about her order while I wasthere. I figured that might have been a one off and came back because there is basically zero food diversity here and I washoping it?s would be better. I got tacos because the burrito was all rice and had zero flavor. The tacos were again weirdlygreasy so much so it required several napkins to clean my hands after. The staff, specifically the lady working last Wednesday the 12th, is remarkable. I don't know how she managed as much as she... did all at the same time by herself out front. When a place is busy you truly see if it's worth your drive. The team in the backmade fresh quick and same quality they do on slow hours. Bravo! We were introduced to this place by some friends, and have beenback multiple times. Even being 35 mins away, it worth the drive on Taco Tuesday night. Love this spot ! I work near it so always a great lunch deal. Had the option to be through with my wife, we live a little... distance away so we stopped and with short timing due to hours they gladly whipped us up one of our favorites El Pecado burrito! Read more
I am from the southwest so I?ve had my fair share of having eaten different styles of tacos from homemade to fancy restaurant. I... was intrigued by California Taco and thought I?d try 3 kinds -island taco, chicken and pork carnitas. I used to really love this place, but the past two times I?ve gone my takeout orders have been prepared wrong, which is really... disappointing. (Yesterday my Crunchwrap which is supposed to come with beef, came half filled with another type of meat- notsure if it was chicken or pork since I didn?t order that so I couldn?t eat it). I ordered the "classic burrito". The description from the menu reads: "Rice, black beans, jack cheese, salsa, sour cream w.... taco beef or you could add Mesquite chicken, shredded Pork, shrimp or fresh veggies" I got the shredded pork. They wereextremely generous with the rice. It was about 90% rice. There was no sour cream or salsa in the burrito, and very littlemeat. I would have been better off getting some pork fried rice from the Chinese place next door and wrapping it in atortilla. My daughter ordered hers with mesquite chicken, and only cheese and lettuce (no rice or beans, nor the sour cream orsalsa that I didn't get anyway), so she lucked out and got a lot of chicken, so they get 2 points for that, but thats overlygenerous all in all. Finally tried this place yesterday. I think it had taco meat inside, maybe not, but other than being loaded with rice and a few... beans I can?t say much more. From when she put a huge scoop of rice on the tortilla I knew it was going downhill quickly. Forten bucks I can do way better. I know it?s hard to get help but really The woman who waited on me was on her mobile phone theentire time from before I ordered to when I left.
