Incredible food. But PRICEY. My wife and my dinner was $160 for two entrees and two sides

Artisans is simply outstanding. In every way, this fine restaurant warrants five stars. It's exceptional every time we visit.

This was a lunch like no other. Every inch of space in the luxurious lodge is awash with character and sumptuous, welcoming... design. Stepping into a tight foyer, you find a mosaic of branches wrapping overhead. The lobby has vintage furniture and desk,which is faced by a cavernous hearth, inviting to read by the fire. A full birch tree reaches high amidst the spirallingstaircase; the thick carpet runner soft as you ascend or descend, the walls all along the stairs adorned with paintings of thelocal natural beauty in ornate frames. There are several levels of porch over looking the lake, with sweeping views of the lawnbelow, lake and mountains beyond. The selections of food did not overwhelm; as they are carefully curated, selected andperfected - like the whole of the building - to complement the majestic Adirondack vista and atmosphere. I loved everything Iate, and my cocktail of tequila, strawberry pureé, and rosé was divine. Unexpectedly, as we made to leave, we found ourselvesamid a small gathering in one of the sitting rooms, where an ornithologist had brought a live adult Horned Owl and was regalingthe guests with facts and anecdotes from his work with birds of prey. The owl sat politely, regal even, on the back of a sofa;heading turning with deep orange eyes to watch us as his handler charmed us all. The entire experience was a treat I won'tforget. Read more

Had dinner here on a Saturday night. Ordered the tasting menu with the wine pairings. Not only was the food incredible and all... the pairings great matches, the service was outstanding and they went out of their way to accommodate any request. We knew wewere going to have a good meal based on reviews but we really did not expect to have one of the very best meals we have had in avery long time. Read more

Romantic atmosphere, excellent service... unfortunately food is not what you would expect with the high prices. Steak was... overcooked and tough and covered with a heavy sauce. Avoid the duck breast which was dry, and lobster bisque that came with a rubbery piece of lobster. Quail was tasty but rack of... lamb took quite a bit of effort to chew. Service was pleasant and friendly. Atmosphere was warm. I rate the food 2-star, serviceis 4-star and atmosphere is 4-star. For me, overall experience wasn’t worth the money. Read more

Excellent ambience. All the furniture, the fire places and the marvellous view of the lake creates a very cozy setting to relax... and unwind. The food is excellent too, but the service is a bit slow. So don't come here for a quick bite 1 hour before yourflight check-in. This is a place to be lazy, enjoy the beautiful view and savour delightful food. Yesterday it took us 3 hoursfor dinner... But we were just happy about it! Read more

We've stayed at The Lake Placid Lodge a few years ago and and had several wonderful experiences at the restaurant, but this time... we had stayed somewhere else but came for dinner. The overall feel of the restaurant is still luxurious, with wonderful woodcarving and distinctive decor, and a dark and sedate ambience. We opted for a meal rather than the tasting menu, and although weenjoyed our food - my spouse had the harvest salad and halibut entree, and I had the field greens & boar entree - nothing wasperfect, merely okay. It ended on a finer note, the s'mores dessert being very good. The service was attentive andaccommodating, and although we have had better service, it seemed a bit lackluster. Read more
