I've been to this Popeyes probably 50 times over the last 7 years .. the chicken is usually ok but many times it's been cold. I... love Popeyes but this has to be the worst Popeyes in the nation. The service is always bad and the cleanliness is substandard.I'd avoid this Popeyes and find another. I only eat there due to time constraints or I would never eat there again. It is theworst! This Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen is inside a truck stop --1201 Ripley Street Lake Station, Indiana so it feels somewhat dirty.... However, there were very nice ladies behind the counter, but they were burdened with telling everyone they were out of Mac andcheese and their new Premium Strawberry Lemonade/Chilled Strawberry Lemonade drinks. The chicken sandwiches were steaming hot aswere the cajun fries. The best part of the meal was their Blackberry and Cream Cheese Pie - a deep-fried, bubbly turnover-stylecrust with a piped filling of cream cheese and blackberry puree. The pie came nice and hot. The crust has that thin, crackly,crispy layer from deep-frying with a standard flaky pie crust underneath -- but NOT overfriend like other fast foodpies. Inside, I found an even layer of soft, melted, slightly-sweet cream cheese next to a layer of sweet, tart blackberrycompote. Blackberry is probably my least favorite of the standard berry pie fillings. It tastes a bit more muted to me than saystrawberry or raspberry. I think it's just particular to me though because other people seem to like it quite well and describeit differently than what I taste. Overall, Popeye's Blackberry and Cream Cheese Pie delivers on a crispy, flaky pie crust,mellow cream cheese, and tart blackberry filling. I love the crust and like the filling. Read more
