Very cool feel at Charlie Mops. Locals rave about it. Feels like an old soul bar with a new look. Pretty impressive menu with... descriptions of food that make your mouth water. Ordered a burger and a chicken sandwich. The food was good but a step away frombeing great. The feel of the place makes me imagine my burger stacked with toppings all falling off with every bite. With strongflavors and too much for one hand. That was not the case. Each sandwich was cleanly stacked with just enough to stay in itsplace. The flavors were there but did not last long. Home chips and fries were appealing but just missed the mark to make metell everyone about them and how they need to stop in. We will be back and hoping for the explosive taste the menu eludestoo. Too often local places are given a pass because they are local and don?t last. Charlie Mops is 1 step away from greatnessthat can appeal to the masses. Read more
Amazing food and amazing service to boot! All food perfect to order, surpassing my expectations, and even having our party... enjoy food we each aren't too fond of (onion for one, jalapenos for another, and mushrooms for the last). Average in most wars. The appetizers were actually quite good, but the food was room temperature and just kinda odd. We waited... for 45 minutes until they realized they could put two tables together to seat our party (of 5). Drinks and appetizers werepretty quick, but the food took almost 50 minutes from when we sat down. We arrived at 6:15, didn't eat until close to 8. Iunderstand it was aFriday night and I'm not holding that against them nearly as much as I am the sub-par food. Now to the food-the fries were the best part, and some of us thought thier meal was okay. Most of us, however, received room temperature foodthat was just.... weird. Mac and Cheese with pretzel sticks on it? Very strange. They didn't even make an attempt to make itlook decent. Posting this I do realize this is a very new restaurant and keep that in mind. The interior had a decent vibe but every seat was... full and it was definitely crowded. My fiance and I sat at the bar. Crew did seem equipped to handle all the patrons. We startedwith an order of mushrooms, which were not on the menu, via a recommendation from the waitress. They weren't the traditionalfried mushrooms we'd expected, but very good. For our main course, I ordered a special of the night burger, a Carolina reaperhot burger (also not on the menu but posted earlier in the day on their FB page). I loved it! Very good, no complaints at all.My fiance ordered the chili cheese tots. He found them to be okay, but the chili bland. He could've made tater tots, opened acan of off-brand chili and threw on some shredded cheese himself at home for about 1/3 of the price. Overall, I'm not sure we'llreturn. We didn't have a bad time, we just aren't sure if it compares. We spent $60, tip included, and got 3 domestic draftbeers, a scotch on ice, a burger and a small bowl of tater tots. Read more
Awesome burgers, good beer, and cool atmosphere. Burger was cooked perfect and had such good flavor, no condiments were needed.... Kid's menu available. Draft and bottled beer, wine and mixed drinks. Tons of seating, including booths, low tops, and barchairs. Bar is split into two sections; one long straight bar top and the other one shorter which is perfect for a group of10~12.
