Update: After our bad experience trying to get El Serrano takeout on 1/8/22 we had decided to never eat there again. But the... next day the owner's daughter reached out to me through private message to apologize to me and to offer an explanation for whatwent wrong. She took full responsibility for the issues and offered me a gift card comparable to the cost of a full meal for ourfamily. In this day and age when most companies don't care about one customer's bad experience I was very impressed that ElSerrano reached out to me personally. I will be going back and will continue to drive from Maryland not only for the great foodbut also to support a company that cares about each of their customers. Original Post: We have been eating at El Serrano forthe past 20 years. We like it so much we even drive from Bel Air, Maryland to get takeout. Tonight we had such a horribleexperience that we will never eat there again. We placed an online takeout order around 5:45pm and were told it would be readyat 6:20pm. When we got there we were told the kitchen was backed up and they would call us when it was ready so we could wait inour car. At 7pm after no communication from them we went back up to the pickup window to get an update and stood there foranother 15 minutes with two other people whose orders were supposed to be done by 6pm and 6:15pm. They had rung the buzzer bythe window and received no response. They were all completely ignored while standing outside in 25 degree weather. They finallywent inside and were told their food was not ready and no update could be given on when anyone’s food would be done. This wasnow a full hour after they told us our food would be ready. The only thing we were offered was them saying they were sorry andthey could cancel our order if we didn’t want to keep waiting. I wish I could give more than 5 stars… I’ve dined all over Lancaster, but this is easily the best restaurant in this area.... Service (!!), quality of food, DRINKS, ambiance, price…. One of the best restaurants in Lancaster! The Peruvian cuisine is so tasty and come hungry, because the meals are large! I... enjoyed the margarita (passion fruit) as well. We had made reservations for outside (online) but there was a private party. Theywere able to seat us inside which was no problem. Excellent! Salsa is very flavorful. Ceviche doesn't have shrimp or much else than the fish (tapas sizes, not a full entre),... but man was it good!
