Oof…We haven’t been here in 2-3 years because of a previous experience. Ordered at 5:44 said it would be ready by 5:55. 11... minutes seems reasonable as the meat is already prepared. Pulled in at 5:57 and made the call. Told us “it’s not ready yet,we’ll have it out in a couple minutes.” After idling in our vehicle for 23 minutes and watching many customers get theirfood via curbside and drive through, I decided to go in. After walking past an employee that seemed really disappointed to haveto stop vacuuming so that I may pass, she grumbled through a “welcome to Sonny’s” without any eye contact, I stood thereawkwardly until someone acknowledged me, (obviously the man behind the bar wasn’t concerned) I said politely “hello I’vebeen waiting curbside for 20+ minutes for our food” to which the woman replied “Are you Uber?” I explained that I wasn’tand told her my name. She went in the kitchen to inquire about my order when a voice shouted “It has been sitting righthere!” Someone came out with the bags. No apology, not even a mention that our order was 27 min past it’s time. Of coursefood was cold. Flaccid French fries and soggy fried pickles as well as the dried out meat. We were in a rush so we consumed thefood but it was one of those meals where everyone involved just stews in silence about the experience that was just had. Iwouldn’t have written this review had anyone showed any kind understanding or an apology . We wondered if our food would havetaken 38 min (total) if we had dined in as they weren’t busy. As a former service industry manager with 20 years experienceand someone who works in a customer service role, yikes. Mistakes happen, we understand that. Epic fail !!!!I highly recommend checking your food before you leave with your take out order. Was there yesterday July 3, 2022... and ordered 1 pound of brisket, and quarts of sides. I checked the order when I was there and it looked like 5 slices ofbrisket. I brought it to the attention of the Togo waiter, he took it back to the kitchen, and they added a little more butstill didn’t look like 1 pound. I got home and weighed it out to be 9.1 ounces. The excuses I got were ridiculous. Theyhopefully refunded $10 to the original total. But did not offer anything further. Several employees failed to do their job onthis, even after I caught it the first time, they still didn’t get it right. Read more
Very friendly and helpful staff. Good location in Clearwater. Very good and tasty food. The portion could be bigger compared to... the price. Otherwise everything was clean and well organised. Will come again. Read more
We came here on a Monday evening for dinner. There were 5 of us. We got 3 appetizers, a drink each a main entree each and a... dessert to split. Food was fresh, fast and delicious! My husband and I absolutely love this restaurant!! Our waitress was on top of everything we needed! The food was amazing! I... enjoyed the sliced brisket platter and my husband had the pulled pork platter! We both loved the sweet bbq sauce on our meat andfor dessert we tried the cinnamon sugar covered fried doughnut holes dipped in a glaze that apparently was made with sweet tea!!My oh my everything was perfect! We had a great BBQ lunch here. Being from Texas, we have high expectations for BBQ. Sonny's didn't disappoint. Didn't give it... five stars, because it's not our favorite place to get BBQ. However, four stars or higher are rarely given out by me for BBQ. The brisket was cooked just right. Especially for my order for lean. The chicken had a good flavor and was moist. I'm not thebiggest fan of pulled pork and pork ribs, but both were very good. Finished both off; which I won't eat anything I don't like. I truly enjoyed the perfectly cooked broccoli and well seasoned green beans. There weren't any complaints by anyone in ourparty during our visit. That included with the friendly and professional staff members. I highly recommend Sonny's BBQ duringyour visit to the Tampa area. Read more
I haven't had Sonny's in years, so decided to stop in. I got the Sonny's Sampler with beans and mac and cheese. All the food was... very good as was the service. Rib meat easily fell off the bone, chicken was the same way. Add a little extra spicy bbq sauceand good to go. Read more
