Ate here about a year ago and it was excellent. Was excited to bring the family for dinner tonight. What a disappointment.... Arrived at 7:15 PM. Three of us wanted to order the Prime Rib special but were told they were sold out already. The Salmon andRisotto dinners were great. However, all four steak dinners were cold including sides. Informed the waitress who stated she willreheat the dinners and inform the Manager. She took the dinners back and microwaved them. The food was warmer, but now thesteaks were not as juicy. Because of this, I asked for steak sauce and was informed they were out. This place is mismanaged andthe manager obviously doesn't care about their customers because they never came to our table to discuss the problem with fourcold dinners! Nothing taken off the bill either. At least 2 of the 6 meals and the desserts were good. Read more

Excellent food and service. Prices are fair considering the size of the meal

The first time we visited, last year the food, was very tasty especially the German feast. This last visit the potato cakes were... undercooked, the seafood pasta was missing roasted tomatoes and sauce (only used pasta water forgot the rest) and the Jagersaucewas good but a little too salty. The employees were very nice, it was just a little disappointing because it was my husband'sbirthday and he found this restaurant and of all the German dishes we tried this place had the best we had tasted in a while. In town for Steelers training camp and we met the owner, Lara. She invited us to try her restaurant before we went to training... camp the next day. We did! And the door was excellent from the pot sticker appetizer(not pictured) to our main courses anddessert. If you are in the area stop by. You will not be disappointed. Read more

Chef Dato's Table: what an amazing gem just outside of tiny Latrobe this is! Kara (the owner and the late Chef Dato's wife) and... her chefs and servers are all absolutely wonderful. The food? Incredible; large portions as well. The drinks? Delicious. You cango ahead and make it a point to come here now if you don't want to keep reading (trust me, you'll love it) but I'll share a bitabout what we had below. My wife and I visited for lunch and each got a handmade cocktail--a Negroni and Manhattan--perfectlycrafted by Kara herself. We ordered the Giant Bavarian Pretzel with bier cheese as an appetizer, which was, in fact, absolutelyenormous (the size of my adult head!), hot and flaky, and the hot cheese dip was *chef's kiss*. We were both feeling asandwich, so after some help from our amazing server Paige (ask for Paige as your server!), I selected Chef Dato's Famous GiantFish Sandwich and my wife picked the Roasted Turkey on (house made) Stuffing Bread (basically a Thanksgiving meal in sandwichform with gravy and cranberry jelly--the stuffing IS THE BREAD!). Did I mention the portions are enormous here? Comehungry! Our sandwiches were perfect and the fries hot and crispy. We had zero room to try dessert this time around but I cannotwait to return to try their dinner entrees or one of their famous Wild Game nights. Latrobe is incredibly lucky to have ChefDato's. Swing by when you're in the area! Read more
