The new venture out last night was at Mickey’s Downtown Bistro at 4331 N Ocean Dr. (A1A), Lauderdale-By-The-Sea, just a tad... South of Commercial BL) offering a delicious fusion of Italian, Middle-eastern, and some American favorites. A somberatmosphere but is perfect for a bistro with live entertainment (black painted ceilings and flooring), but each table is coveredwith fresh white tablecloth (the entertainment starts at 8pm - I don’t know what type of music they perform because we had areservation at 6pm). Regardless, our food and service were excellent. This time of the year, Mother Nature is kind to SOFLO.Last night was a perfect comfortable weather less the humidity. No outside seating but the front of the restaurant hasretractable/collapsing window panels, and last night, naturally, they were open. Upon sitting down, we could feel the gentleocean breeze caressing the atmosphere, subtle and pleasant. Our cheerful server, Chad, brought some crispy-crusted bread withsome knock-out home-made relish. Wine was ordered, but I’m a beer guy – Chad suggested a season-crafted pumpkin beer amongothers, and I went for it (let’s say that it was “interesting”). A very challenging menu made it hard to select becauseevery item seems so inviting, but Chad simplified our selection. He suggested we start with the firecracker calamari forappetizer and he recited a lengthy chef’s specials, among them was the 24oz bone-in pork chop covered with bacon morsels mixedin with sautéed mushrooms over a reduced down white cherry sauce. Needless to say that my eyes opened wide while my jawdropped on the table. Of course, Chad saw my excitement; he winked at me and said “Trust me on that one. It’s a winner. Gofor it. You’ll love it!” 2 of us ordered it and one got the chicken parm over a pile of linguini mixed inmarinara. Chad’s recommendations were spot-on. The calamari was thick and tender served with the chef’s special blend offiery spices which continues to tickle y Read more

Dani was an amazing bartender. We originally thought she was the owners daughter (which we did meet) because of who she spoke... about the place but then told us the story of how she knows the family. She was very knowledgeable and we loved her pumpkinmartini. Her and Rachel have a great energy and feed if of each other’s jokes. They work very well together. Can’t wait tocome back Read more

Food was excellent. Service was amazing. However the speaker system wasn’t great as you couldn’t really hear the dueling... pianos when they were talking. It was however a lot of fun and great songs Read more

This perfect located restaurant is pretty good . The 6 of us wanted a little entertainment with our dinner so we chose... Mickey’s… Rachel our server was sweet and likable….. The appetizers especially the spinach one was excellent. The dinnerswere all good including the chicken special. The drinks were tasty but my wife and I both thought they were made with verylittle alcohol. The kale salad we believed was possibly not kale…. But maybe it was baby kale, maybe baby spinach butnevertheless it was good. The entertainment of the 2 women singing and playing piano was loud and engaging.. Both pianists aretalented with high energy. Unfortunately because it was so loud it was very tough to talk and there was no break in the music. Iwould have preferred high energy and then some mellow time… but it was loud for 2 hours. Which is fine if you want that. Thespeakers were all around including the bathroom which was cool but loud…… My friend wanted to change his broccoli for frenchfries but there was a $3.00 up charge so that was a turn off. Go if you want a unique dining and entertainment experience. Read more

We went there for the first time last night. We had happy hour drinks at the bar for 40% off including Titos Vodka. Excellent... bartenders and a fun, lively, mature crowd. This is not the Howl at the Moon ,wild and crazy place that closed many years ago.The talented dualing piano players, play music that an older crowd appreciates. The food was reasonably priced and the servicewas excellent. Please remember to tip generously your bartenders, servers and the piano players. Read more

The food is nothing short of Amazing at Mickeys. The seafood is fresh and has great flavor. Everything was hot as fresh. A... wide assortment of mixed drinks with live entertainment made for a great date night. The Dueling Pianos are good, but the crowdis focused on Dinner and not into the show as much. They need a third female Artist to round out the group. It’s fun towatch while eating dinner. They play most requests. Definitely recommend. Read more
