There is not much fresh about this place. Canned pre made powdered type ?queso? much like the kind bought in a jar. I have had... lots of real cheese queso in my life- this isn?t it.Tangy guac like the pre-made kind you buy at the store that?s preserved withlots of citrus- tangy and you can?t taste the avocado. Bagged store bought corn tortillas. Salsa also didn?t taste fresh. Riceseemed premade and reheated. Beans and carnitas was not terrible.. but portions were beyond skimpy. Had to ask for more just tofill the stale ?bowls? for the dips. No limes for the beer. Avoid. Go somewhere else. The subway next door probably fresher thanthis. Read more

Excellent food and wonderful service! Our daughter has Celiacs and the server was very knowledgeable about serving those with... Celiacs. Dark matter salad was delicious, as was the fish tacos. If in the area this is a must stop Read more

Very toned down Mexican chain food. Ordered a chicken burrito bowl, fish tacos, chips and guac, and a beef burrito. Tried almost... all the sauces and salsas, and the slaw was essentially the only one with real flavor. The meats were tough and flavorless, queso was bland, guac unseasoned, chips stale. Nothing was awful, but a local Mexican place should have more flavor/characterthan Qdoba, but sadly the stuff we ate all fell short of being worth any mention. Plenty of better Mexican/Texmex/Burrito/Tapasplaces in surrounding area Read more

Blandest most overpriced tiny portioned fake Mexican food that I have ever had. Disrespectful and knowledgeable staff. At least... I wouldn't have been ripped off like this at subway nextdoor. I would have rather gone outside ripped up the grass and ate thedirt underneath. Not even to prove a point I just like dirt. It's delicious. Don't even get me started on rocks. Read more

It's a Monday, most places in Lead and the surrounding areas are closed Mondays. I was looking for a small local hole in the... wall place to eat. Found El Jefes and wasn't disappointed. The atmosphere was good, staff was friendly, bathrooms were clean andthe food was delicious. I had the 3 enchilada special with all three sauces and my husband had the smothered burrito. Wouldrecommend checking this small local Lead business out before eating at the generic, find it every where sandwich shop next toit! Read more

Awesome little place. The food is absolutely spot on and the prices are reasonable as well. I got the 2 taco deal. They were... pretty filling Taco's. Prices have gone up a little from the other menu picture, but not by much. Will post a picturesoon. Also, got a perfect score with SD Department of Health inspection. Read more

Great experience in a cute town. As tourists, we chose this place while exploring the town and after seeing the mining museum.... It had a cute charm to match the surrounding town. Food tasted fresh and customer service was superb. However as a Texan used toTex-Mex dining, I have become accustomed to a heavier hand on the seasoning. Needed a bit of flavor. Read more

Best Muchos Nachos ever! They were a flavor explosion of fresh ingredients, and HUGE! I thought he was done loading my plate... after the first layer- not even close! The ginger sesame slaw was a fun twist on the nachos- yum! I was waiting for Guy Feirito show up and dig in! Love how they make everything from scratch (minus chips and tortillas). Read more
