Reviews for Latchstring Restaurant in Lead, SD
The lady who seated us could put a smile on her face but she could have been having a rough day. The waiter was very friendly.... The view on the back porch was amazing!!! The food is a bit pricey. I had the cheeseburger with a side of the buffalo stew. Both were ok. Not much flavor. Same with my wife's food. She had the French dip and french onion soup. I thought her soupwas really good. Would return here just for the view. Read more
Their breakfast is fantastic! Pancakes were some of the best I've ever had. Great flavor with all of our orders. The French... toast and sausage links were so good. I ordered a breakfast burrito, not my usual choice but it was what our server suggestedand it did not disappoint. It was huge but loaded with flavor and homemade salsa. The night before my sister had her weddingthere and they served prime rib and a lemon zest panko breaded kind of salmon. The salmon was to die for and everyone who hadprime rib was raving about it. The presentation of it was beautiful too, served with colorful mix of vegetables and roastedpotatoes. Read more
We stopped here for breakfast before doing some hiking in the area. The place was clean with large dining area. I really enjoyed... the view out the window. Our server was friendly and quick. I had a breakfast sandwich with potatoes. It was hot and prettytasty. Very glad we stopped here Read more
The restaurant has a very inviting setting alongside Spearfish Creek. The food was delicious. The soup of the day was Smoked... Buffalo Chili soup with cornbread. It was hearty and spicy! We had it as a side to our sandwiches, and it was the perfectcompliment to them. I had the 4 cheese Grilled Cheese. My husband had the BLT (very generous with the bacon). The sour doughbread used on both sandwiches was delicious. We were offered indoor or outdoor seating. The view from the back patio was lovely, but we ate indoors due to the wind. I thoroughly recommend eating here. The waitress was cheerful and helpful! Read more
We only had drinks and the cheese curd appetizer. So good. Best cheese curds ever. And the blueberry lemonade vodka was one of... the best most refreshing drinks I?ve had in a very long time. Ryan was a great server. Would recommend to not pass this up ifyou are in the area. Read more
Went in the off season so it wasn't at all busy. Our server was very friendly and welcoming. Beautiful view from the window we... sat by, and the bird feeder out there was very busy! The grackles here are so much more colorful than the grackles in Wisconsin,I'm not sure why since it's the same species. But they were absolutely gorgeous! The food was excellent. I had fish in a creamywhite wine sauce over corn cakes and it was FANTASTIC! I would order it again if I get the chance to go back. We also had thechislic appetizer which was delicious, and their french fries were really good! Read more
Had a nice (but quite pricey!) breakfast here over the Thanksgiving Holiday and enjoyed the empty restaurant. The biscuits and... gravy were pretty tasty, with decent flavor and filling for sure - just wish it wasn't so much to add on some eggs and sausagelinks! Unclear the affiliation between the Lodge/hotel and the restaurant, but obviously it is stand-alone since you don't getany complimentary continental breakfast or anything like that there! Not a recommendation for those on a budget or needing tofeed a family, that's for sure. Nice service and was pretty quick to get my food and check! Read more
