I have been here multiple times. It is fun to order your food from the table using their phones. The food has always been well... cooked and quickly made. My wife and I don't typically eat out for breakfast, but we were up early this particular day and out on the road. We decided to... try One Man Band and we were not disappointed. I loved the retro look of the building, and that you dialed-in your order on aphone that was sitting at your table. The food was very good as well. Exact energy & food I deserved after a full week of challenges! One woman, takes orders (by phone), cooks, cashes you out, and... buses. Solid diner! You get everything you expect from one: inexpensive meal, typical diner menu options, 50s atmosphere. One Man Band... has unique ordering system - you do it over the old fashioned phone that is installed in every booth. Cute! Instructions forordering are on the menu and they are very clear. You won't be confused! Anther important thing is the cleanliness of the place.Seats, tables, dinnerware, and menus were clean. I didn't see any greasy dust fluff on the walls! Read more
It was a different experience in a good way. I've never been to a restaurant where you place your order via telephone. It was... great. BUT you still had to go up to the register to pay for your order. It's a cute retro restaurant with good food. Definitelyworth a try. Read more
A fantastic option when you want that classic 50s diner feel. The ordering process is unique but not too detracting from the... overall experience. POSITIVES: I didn't go in with the highest expectations, but they definitely held their own. I love thedecor, filled with shiny 50s car parts, and a colorful jukebox, and cheerful booths. I enjoyed the ordering experience: afteryou review the menu and decide what you want, 1 person at the table picks up the phone and orders for the group. The kitchen isopen where you can see them cook your food (there are even windows at one side of the wall). I loved that you can serve yourselfdrinks at the fountain and grab condiments and utensils. NEGATIVES: as others have mentioned, there is a bit of a wait. Iappreciate that the food is cooked fresh, though. I anticipated it taking 30 minutes or so for my wife and I, but we had ourfood at about 17 minutes after ordering, which gave us time to relax and drink soda and talk. One gripe I had was that our orderof country fried steak and biscuit with gravy (Hank's Country Breakfast) did not have enough gravy for even one of the items.The biscuit was massive and tasted good, but without enough gravy to cover it and more gravy for the country fried steak, it wasdry and disappointing. My wife wasn't too fond of their hash browns, that seemed a little underdone. According to one of myfriends who frequents the place, our experience seemed out of the ordinary ("usually the food comes swimming in gravy... Etc").So I guess it depends on the cook. PRICE: $10-20 per person. Overall, the food was decent, the wait was understandablylengthy, the ambiance is fantastic, and the dining/ordering experience is unforgettable. Def worth a shot. Pleasant family vibe at this diner. It is a diner in the true sense of the word. Old school to be sure. Great choice a breakfast... menu items (all day) at reasonable prices.
