I can't say enough about this place. It's certainly a hidden gem. The food is out of this world! The ladies working were... wonderful to talk to. The whole experience was well worth the ride up. We'll definitely be back. Read more

Wife and I really enjoy this little spot way out in the middle of nowhere. Pizza is phenomenal and may possibly be the best in... Caldwell County. Will be a great place for us when we build our home just a half mile from here. Thank you for providingdelicious food and service to us. Read more

2021 Update: It's back open under new management (owners) but with some of the same team as before! The cafe menu is a bit... smaller (more manageable) but just as varied. The burger options seem smaller from what I remember but the pizza menu is verysimilar and the pizza is the great cheesy and topping experience as before. Some notes: They reopened just a couple days agoso their website is just a landing page. For current info see their Facebook page, but note the menu may be smaller than theactual menu when you visit. Inside seating has plexiglass shields between tables. There is an outside patio with tables andsun umbrellas as well as deck seating. Some of the 'general store' feeling has been retained and refreshed but this isn't thereason we go here - it's for the food! (Still no beer though.) The posted hours on Google Maps are likely wrong so call beforeyou go. Even though the address is Lenoir, it's a medium effort drive to get there. That said, if you're visiting inLeatherwood, Powderhorn Mtn, Blue Ridge Mtn Club or Rider's Roost, it's really convenient. There are a ton of fishing spots inthe area so when you get tired of fishing, hiking or riding, check this place out. -------- From my 2019 review: Themerchantile part of this location is only a memory and just what hasn't been sold over the past two years. The pictures don'treflect the current state. That said, the food is good overall and the pizza is probably the best part of the menu. It's areally great option vs driving into Lenoir or Boone if your staying in the area. Read more

We love visiting old stores. Buffalo Mercantile Co. & Cafe was perfect - small and historic. I had a personal pizza and Chris... had a hamburger. Both were great. Read more
