Despite some of the other reviews about the flys, I really wanted to go to Grain on the Rocks during our stay in the area for... the views of the water. I even called to inquire about the fly issue 15 minutes before heading over for lunch, only find a noteon the door they were closed that day despite it was one of the days their website said they were open. We decided to try againanother day. To cut to the chase.... The views are the only thing going for it so far in the 2022 season. I get shortage oflabor issues.... That said the food was meh at best with only pub food options on the menu. Not a dinner place!!! The staffwas rude and very green. They could not seat us for 45 min despite a large number of open tables visible due to "kitchenissues". We were directed to the bar or the playground outside by the host staff, note: we had a 10 yr old girl with us in anice dress. (The playground is best suited for under 6 based on size). The bartender barked at our 10yr old to get back eventhough she was standing away from the bar (but clearly not far enough for the bartender), When we got the text a table wasready, we were directed to a table with 3 chairs for our party of 4, We pointed out another table with 4 chairs and weredirected to it instead. Our server was friendly enough, but was unfamiliar with the menu. We ordered a cheesesteak upchargefor fries, lobster roll with "house made" chips and seared tuna. The chips were clearly Ruffles with Ridges, the tuna wasnearly fully cooked and our cheese steak order was "rung in wrong" according to our server. Then that wrong item was left onthe bill when it came. The server corrected the bill, but then didn't provide a pen, so we used the kids menu crayon to sign thetab. Yep. The views were great and we got to see the ferry come in, but we will NOT be back.... Just don't have their acttogether. Read more
Nice spot for outdoor dining, particularly on a beautiful early summer day. Friendly, attentive service from Cameron. I enjoyed... the OMG burger (the pictured parm truffle fries were a $2 upcharge) and my wife thought her garden omelette, home fries, andmimosas were solid. Food came out quickly. Read more
Greatly enjoyed our visit ! Glad we found it. Free parking onsite. Open setup and really liked the heated outdoor seating. Food... and service was great ! You can do a quick grab and go or linger and enjoy the nice view of the ferry terminal. Enjoyed the HulaBowl which was nice and fresh and also the Citrus Avocado salad with nicely grilled Portobello mushrooms. Finished up with agreat cup of coffee and chocolate cake. Very bad soda was flat. Ordered food 6.55pm and at 730pm had to ask for food. Ferry was leaving 755pm. Was handed boxes and told... food was next up. Food came out crab fries were cold, regular fries were cold along with my chicken cheese steak. Asked forextra cheese it was poured all over tray non made it on to chicken steak and cheese sauce was very cold along with steak thatwas warm. When told waitress food was cold we were told it was just made had been sitting. Shre took food back put in box. Cameback with hot fries and same cold steak when I asked her she says oh well cheese sauce is alway cold you can't keep it hot allday it would burn. NOT TRUE MOST PLACE HAVE A WARMER THERE CHESSE SAUCE SITS IN. HAD TO GET FERRY 80.00 CHECK AND 30 PER CENT OFFOOD SUCKED. My advice have a drink and don't waste a dime on the food. Not worth it. My girl and I were looking for something to do, we hopped the ferry out of Cape May over to Lewes to Grain on the Rocks and sat... at the outdoor bar for hours. Drank, ate, laughed and had the best time. Highly recommend! Read more
