I've been to this restaurant many times and always had decent food and portions. Tonight I went in with my wife for dinner and... ordered a large portion of haddock and scallops and was served a sad portion of food. Asked the waitress if they brought asmall and she got her manager. First words of the manager was" is that all they brought out" I had a peice of fish and 4scallops. I said yes. She checks with kitchen and said they weigh everything and it's correct. 23 dollars and it was abouthalf of what I would normally get. I said I'll pay for the large and not come back again or charge me for a small. Needless tosay I was charged for a large and will not go back. Was one of our favorite restaurants for lobster rolls and seafood. Service was poor tonight also, never brought any tarter sauce and they didn't bring my wifes chowder out with her meal asrequested. I do have a picture of the meal. The food was decent, just not what the portion has always been. Read more
While the vegetarians loved their veggie stir-fry, the rest of us found the chicken parm baked chicken & haddock au gratin to be... bland, lacking flavor. We dined at a weekday lunch. While it is my aunt's favorite place, her nieces & great niece agree to notreturn. None of us realized that anyone else had disliked their dishes until we days later. Read more
What kind of food do you get when you are traveling through Maine? Seafood, of course! This place came highly recommended by the... locals. They have an extensive menu and very helpful and friendly wait staff. I got the Fisherman's Platter, the large. I shouldhave got the small. The large was so big that the waitress asked if she could get me anything else and I answered, "How abouttwo more hungry people?". Later, I asked her if I would get a t-shirt if I cleaned my plate." I would have to say that thisplace was a great catch. Update: I went back for another round the next night. This time I got the Loaded Lobster Roll anothermasterpiece of culinary art. Read more
Best seafood and best prices! While everyone in downsizing portions, not here! A lobster roll (my favorite) under $20 and packed... full still! Haddock sandwich that is twice the size of the bun and all the staff friendly and helpful. The owner is there allthe time and working along side his staff. Only complaint is sometimes I can't get a seat in the pub! Oh, plus HUGE gluten freemenu!!! Not just breads! Read more
If I could give this restaurant 10 stars , I would. Mary D (short blond waitress that worked on May 7th) - shout out to the... BEST server and hands down BEST service my mother and I have ever experienced! She was fast , had an amazing personality , andshe handled us with outstanding service and care. There aren't many waitresses who can wait on as many tables as she had andfill everyones need, be attentive , warm , and accomodating with a smile. The manager on duty (son of owner) was absolutelycharming , extremely nice and accommodating , and a pleasure to speak to. It was so cool to hear stories of this place , andthe many years of history behind it! It was extremely busy and this manager was working just as hard as his staff , hadeverything under control , and was even attentive to his own staffs needs during the rush. I apologize I forgot your name butBIG SHOUT OUT TO YOU! The food was AMAZING, it did not disappoint !The seafood stuffing was so good we asked to take some homeand said we would pay for it. The manager had no issue accomodating us ! The fan tail shrimps were large ,meat , juicy , andperfectly breaded , the chowder was out of this world ! The haddock bites are soft and flaky , very flavorful! The stuffedmushrooms with the seafood stuffing was my favorite ! Always awesome service and consistently great food. Fit for foodies no matter what you order. Seafood always fresh and cooked... just as it should be in your selection of batters. Take home leftovers are wonder for another meal the next day. How awesome isthat! Read more
We got the "small" seafood platter for my wife and I to share - we took more than half of it home! The food has ALWAYS been... excellent at the Chick-A-Dee and I have been eating there for over 60 years. It is where we go when we want to celebrate! Theirfried Clams in batter are marvelous as well as their French Fries. If you like seafood they are the place to go!!! The onlydownside is parking. Read more
