I was so excited when I heard we were getting a Joella's in Hamburg. We would drive out of the way to get their chicken... previously. This location is great as well. They have great service and the food is always delicious. I am so glad that theyadded the ghost pepper sauce. Their Parmesan fries are a MUST get. Mahalia worked the front counter during a recent visit and Iwant to say that she is friendly, genuine, and extremely helpful. Read more

This was my first time eating at this restaurant, but it was such a great experience, I had to go ahead and leave a review. The... food was outstanding and the customer service was just amazing. Paige was our cashier and she was the absolute sweetest! Sherecommended my husband's whole meal (my son and I got the lunch deal) and she was just so nice. We were checked on multipletimes by her and other employees. The three of us left very, very happy! Read more

Once back in Kentucky, Fat Man Reviews made a stop into Joella's Hot Chicken Hamburg in Lexington, KY. Joella's serves Nashville... hot chicken and southern sides in 17 locations throughout 5 states. I tried the Jumbo Tenders, grilled, with green beans, greens, hot honey sauce, Jo Jo sauce and BBQ Cheerwine sauce. The green beans and greens were cooked well but they both entirelylacked seasoning. The chicken was juicy and tender but, it could use a little seasoning as well. The Cheerwine has a nicehickory flavor, but it is not overly sweet. The JoJo sauce is very similar to Chick-fil-A sauce, but it is a little thicker withslightly more mustard. It was my favorite. The hot honey is very sweet with a delightful heat finish, but it is very thin aswell. My fiancé had the Jumbo Tenders, fried, in Ella's favorite sauce with fries and Bama white sauce. The chicken was cookedwell and crispy. Ella's favorite sauce is a well flavored sauce with a touch of heat on the back end. The Bama dipping sauce ismoney, it is creamy with great horseradish flavor. The fries were a little soggy, but the Parmesan cheese added a nicetouch. Joella's has several chicken plate selections with varying heat levels. They also serve vegan dishes and beer. It iscounter service, but everyone was pleasant. The Fat Man says the Joella?s Hot Chicken - Hamburg is Fat Man Approved with 1 chin. Read more

We stopped in for a late lunch and these lil sliders hit the spot. I had the Ella's Fav and it was just the right amount of... heat. The cashier also suggested the pimento ranchero dipping sauce and it was the right pairing. I also got a side of Mac andcheese and it was nice so deliciously cheesy. Read more

There are many famous duos in history. Chicken and waffles can certainly make a case for being the best. And Joella's does it... right. Chose your preferred heat level (I picked "Ella's Fav"). A few short minutes later, out comes a plate that will make yourmouth water. The waffle soaks up the sweet syrup which complements the bit of heat from the chicken. Well done! Read more

Would give zero stars if that were an option. Thought at first I was dealing with pin feathers from the chicken...no big deal I... was raised on a farm where we cooked our own chicken and it happens. But no. Hair, long hair, was cooked into the chicken Iordered. Not just one piece but all 3 pieces. This is one of my favorite chicken places so I was very disappointed. Cleanlinessand quality should be top priority. I won?t return. Read more

A little disappointed honestly. First time having Joella's and the reviews looked great. We had the chicken and waffles but I... felt that the chicken was a bit underwhelming - pretty dry and not as spicy as I thought it would be. I don't have a high spicetolerance and the "Hot" sauce was not spicy. Fries were great and waffle was average. The wait time was extremely long for afast- food-style place. We waited probably 15-20 minutes for our food and I expected it to be fresh and hot - it wasn't so I amconfused as to why it took so long. A half dozen people were waiting at all times for pickup orders while we were there. I don'tthink this will be on my list of places to go the next time I'm in Lexington. Read more
