We arrived at 5 p.m. and had to wait awhile for our food, but I watched no less than ten carry-out orders that were ahead of us.... That spoke volumes in a good way: those people knew they were going to receive freshly made tasty suppers. This is the closest Indian food to my house and I’ve always gotten take-out from here. It’s good enough to bring me back and... I’ve never had to go look anywhere else. The mango lassi is delicious! The food is also pretty tasty. We always get garlicnaan or cheese naan and they’re pretty standard. As we are some of the most basic people ever, we always get chicken tikkamasala or shrimp vindaloo, always good. Once I got paneer tikka masala and the paneer was quite bland. Ordered paneer tikka masala, naan and a drink via door dash. Was very disappointed with the food. The flavor of the tikka masala... left much to be desired. It reminded me of a mild lackluster store bought western tomato bisque. I did think the naan I orderedon the side was decent quality and the rice ok. First timer here and in a nutshell, will never go back. I must disclose, I am of Indian descent so I know what good Indian food... is supposed to taste. I’ve even travelled across the pond to India and has some of the best Indian cuisines in my life, so mystandards may be off putting however, I have had Indian food here in the states and somewhat lowered my standards. Now, lets getto the food. I ordered the mango lassi, veg platter for an appetizer, and the paneer do piazza. The mango lassi hit the tablefirst and it started off as a hit. Next, the veg platter came through and it was an appetizer sampler with a samosa, springonion and potato pakoda, fried paneer, and a fried aloo square piece. All these dishes on the sampler were good, except for thepaneer and it was only breaded with a bland paneer cube with no spices or previously grilled before frying. At this point intomy dinner, I was content and was looking forward to my main course, the Paneer Do Piazza, which is supposed to come with greenbell peppers, onions, and paneer in a tomato cream gravy. This definitely turned my opinion on the food the other way. First ofall, the gravy tasted like tomato ketchup, yuck! Even looking at the color of the gravy, you can tell it was ketchup based. Secondly, there was only one bell pepper cube in there, and I didn’t even see any onions. I only took one spoonful and wasdone. I didn’t even bother taking the leftovers home as no one in my household would dare to touch it. The restaurant wascompletely empty, btw, so you’d think the service would be fast paced but NO. We literally asked for the check and it took solong to get it, I had to go up to the waitress and ask if we had to pay up front or do we continue to wait at our table. Shesaid she would get our checks to our table. 5 minutes more pass by and still there was no check, so I decided to take initiativeand go up to the counter to pay. A friend of ours loves this restaurant and we met him at Taj for dinner. Building is definitely dated, but we weren't there for... the appearance of the restaurant. The food was fantastic and fresh. Service was good. We will return for sure. Read more
