I have loved this place for many years and thought its about time I wrote a review. This Chinese restaurant has some of the most... authentic, highest quality Chinese food in the area. Our family lived in China for a year back in 1996 and the cookingtechniques remind me more than any other other Chinese restaurant in the area of the food in we were able to get in China. Forexample, Chinese Pea Shoots (Dou Miao), delicately stir-fried with garlic are often available for the asking and the SautéedShanghai Greens and Sautéed String Beans are also excellent. One thing we often miss in completely Americanized Chineserestaurants are the vegetables...we can get what we crave, skillfully cooked, at Formosa Taipei. Another dish that I can neverget enough of is the Ko-Cha Dish, a magical combination of pork, squid, dried tofu with vegetables and a spicy black beansauce...I feel I'm right back there in China with this one. I enjoy many of the appetizers as well such as the delicate variousSteamed Dumplings, pork being a favorite of course but I also much enjoy the shrimp and vegetarian, the key being here that thedumpling skins are not overly thick as is often the case in some restaurants here. Also the Salt and Pepper Chicken is not to bemissed; spicy and salty but not saucy. I've saved the best for last, the Spicy Noodles in Soup with Beef Sirloin. This dish isincredible. They must slow-cook the meat for many, many hours to tenderize it so and to make such a good soup stock; its justincredible. I have never had its equal anywhere else. Most restaurants seem to just shave some beef into the soup and cook it alittle. If you have ever made stock and/or stew you'll know that this will not give you a satisfying broth. These are justexamples. I continue to find new things I much enjoy on the menu. I strongly recommend picking at least something from theAuthentic Traditional Chinese section. Read more

I had a bad experience at Taipei Gourmet so gave this place a shot. Overall it was pretty good with a few weird disappointments,... mainly that the noodles for the lo mein and spicy beef noodle soup were very fettuccine-like…they were quite firm and not verytasty/appetizing compared to softer noodles. The braised pork was very good but only had 5 pieces of meat. The soup/juicydumplings were also very good. Read more

Food was unappetizing our shrimp with garlic sauce was burned and had no taste of garlic. Very over priced. Our Scallion... pancakes was tasteless and very greasy. Literally one Scallops in the happy meal. Can't compare to the great wall in Bedford.Better off go there. Read more

I wanted to love this place - but was treated like I was a nuisance it overshadowed the food. I ordered a single dish for lunch-... heads up there’s a $20 minimum if paying w/ card- me a first time customer did not know this, maybe if on the phone I wastold, I could’ve stopped at an atm- the dish I ordered in detail had curry and was supposed to be spicy, it had neither, ontop of the cold service I’m hesitant to give it another try.
