I'm not a local, but I do visit Pax frequently & have eaten here 4 or 5 times since they opened. Good selection of beers &... ciders. Tasty food, friendly staff, & attentive service. ***UPDATE July 2022*** So 3 of us arrived a few minutes late to our outing and I could tell it was going to be interesting! Our... "not your waitress" had already made it known that she wasn't our waitress. Most of our party was already there and the tardybunch wanted to order food......well Ms. Not-Your-Waitress said she wanted to go in order???????????????. She kept to her rigidstyle and did drinks, appetizers and food in order without missing a beat. Funny thing nothing came out in order ????. All inall food was good and well plated but the fountain drinks were flat. One guy suffered in silence drinknig flat coke and theother guy asked for a water..... well he went parched because Ms. Not-Your-Waitress clearly didn't bring a glass out but shecame out with a pitcher for the rest of the table. Now in Ms. Not-Your-Waitress defense she did appear that she was not awaitress so in the future maybe one of the many door hostesses can help out instead of standing around with glazed over lookswhen patrons walk in. I'm not sure if this spot is on a seesaw or what because it's our every other visit is ok. I'm beginningto think that locals accept it because this is on of the very few afterwork spot. -February 2022: This visit was very goodcompared to my first back in 2019. The restaurant was clean an service was great but the food was not good. Mashed potatoes and gravy tasted like they were made... with vinegar. The mussels had a funny smell and a bland flavor. The Steak salad wasn't too good either, my friend who ordered itdidn't finish it. My son said his kids hamburger smelled an tasted funny an his french fries were soggy. He didn't eat his meal.It must have been a new cook working there cause the food was disappointing. Other then the food the ambience was great. Read more
We were only stopping here on our way elsewhere but I'm so glad we did. The steak here was easily on par with meals I've had at... 5 star restaurants in downtown Charleston. It was seasoned lightly so the diner could enjoy the beef and the effort that wentinto preparing it. The mussels were also great and that is coming from folks that are very used to fresh caught and preparedseafood. My daughter had the Cajun chicken pasta which was also very tasty. Honestly if you live nearby I don't understand howyou don't visit Pax weekly. Read more
Good food and great service. The waitress was attentive and food was brought out promptly. Nice selection of beer on tap but a... lot of IPAs at this time, had a flight and the waitress gave us samples before committing. Husband liked Devils Backbone best..The falafel pita was amazing, best I've had yet! Falafel was crunchy on outside, pita was soft, and the dressing was delicious.My husband had crab stuffed rock fish which was his favorite meal all weekend, which is saying a lot. I?m a big fan! Been here twice and both times our group had a great experience. The crab cake sandwich is so good! I had to get... it both times. I?d also suggest trying their orange crush.
