We go to Guzzardo's for every celebration dinner - birthdays, Mother's Day, Father's Day, you name it. The table service is... always great and the prime rib special is always my choice. We always have a doggie bag when we leave, but you can be sure thedoggos don't get any. We make the trip from Springfield. It's worth it every time. Read more
It's a small town Italian restaurant that has been there for years. The building is old and you have to go upstairs to eat, but... it has charm. The food is good and the staff is very efficient. It is obviously a favorite of the locals. Our group enjoyed ittheir only complaint was the sticker shock when they got the bill for the night's special, prime rib, but actually they shouldhave asked what it cost. Read more
Got a table right away at 415, water quickly. Told Wendy 2 more would join, were moved one table over no problem. Told her we... would wait a bit to order dinner, but would order appetizer. 30 minutes later after asking multiple times to order withresponse of "I'll be back in just a minute" we walked out. Watched her greet at least 4 other tables. Would have taken us 2minutes to order two large pizzas and one meal. Oh well, ended up at idle hour and got served right away. It was our first time there. We went with friends who highly recommended the restaurant. Wait staff was attentive. I wasn't ... told that there was no veal until I tried to order it. Then I felt pressured to hurry and pick something else. The bread didn'tcome until after our meal arrived even though we asked for it several times. The appetizer was good and arrived in a timelymanner. My food was dried out as if it spent way too long under the warming lamps. Will only return if friends insist on goingthere. Read more
A local tradition that goes back to 1957 and three generations of family ownership. Great home-style Italian food served hot,... prepared well and seasoned just right. The rustic, clean and cozy surroundings add to the comfort food experience.As an addedbonus, outdoor seating is available in season. The staff is customer attentive and well trained. Ownership was present in thedining rooms and manages with pride. All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed my dinner her and the staff and ownership greatly added tothat. By far the best Italian restaurant I have ever been to. The food tasted fresh and homemade as if we got invited to Sunday dinner... at Grandma's house! The spaghetti was amazingly delicious! I got the villa and it was great and our son got a pizza which wasjust as good. The fried ravioli with marinara oh my goodness! Our waitress was amazing! Everything about this place waswonderful. I travel for work and so far the best place I have tried in Illinois even better than the famous Italian place wewent to in Chicago. Definitely a diamond in the rough. Read more
Had a good experience at Guzzardo's. We went for my sister's birthday and there were about 10 of us. The service was good and... our waitress was friendly. They got our salads, soups, and appetizers out very quickly. All the food was delicious. Therestaurant doesn't serve alcohol but you can BYOB so I brought some wine to accompany my dinner. I had the french onion soup andthe prime rib, which was the special for Friday night. Prime rib was on the bone and very juicy. My fiance ordered the chickenparmesan and he loved it. My picky daughter ate a LOT of the schnitzel, to my surprise. I much enjoyed the spicy french dressingtype sauce it came with. My only con for the visit was we waited about an hour or more for our food. However, they wereextremely busy so I can understand why it took that long. Will return again! Read more
