We were going to the local theater and coming in from some 30 miles away, needed a nearby restaurant from where we could walk to... our destination. Uncle Yu's is about as close as one can get to ground zero, downtown Livermore. We ate outside to the sightsand sounds of families enjoying the area, children running through the fountains and life as it should be. Our greeting wasprofessional and the same was found with the sommelier and wait staff. Tables were graced with white linens and high qualityutensils - always a nice start to an evening. The wine list has no equal in any restaurant within 30 miles. Every possible tasteis covered with some 600 wines on a list that runs some 34 pages. Elegant wines from Europe, Australia. New Zealand and manychoices from our own Napa and Sonoma counties. Lodi appellation was noticeably missing but they will figure that one out as thatregion wins more awards for its wines. Like the wine list, the menu is upscale with excellent choices from dim sum to wholelobster. We started with two dim sum dishes followed by the main dish in the photo and one bowl of rice. I would love to give this restaurant a higher rating. Unfortunately, the experience was soiled by our server, Lacy. Let me... first say the food very good and the place is well decorated. When we arrived at the table, we mentioned to Lacy that theirwere a lot of fruit flies where we were sitting. Her response was simply, we know. When I say a lot of fruit flies, I'mtalking at least a couple dozen fling around our table constantly. At least a half dozen ended up in our drinks and on ourfood. Not to belabor the point of the less than poor service, after Lacy took our order the only time we could get service waswhen we flagged her down. She was so inattentive that we had to walk over to the bus boys to get service. The only time thatLacy showed up and was personable was when she presented the bill. Our favorite restaurant in Livermore Downtown! The location can’t be beat, the patio seating us awesome, next to the Lizzy... Fountain park (great if you’re dining with kids). The food is very tasty, our favorites are Peking Duck, salmon rolls(appetizer), fried rice, and Mongolian Beef. We order take out here too - quick service, great food. Service is great on allsides, never had bad service at this restaurant and been going here for years. Read more

We came with a group of four to enjoy a B-Day dinner. We’ll the food was good. The servers were also very nice. The restaurant... inside was disgusting, flies were everywhere! The food came out, not with out a cloud of flies! Disgusting to say the least. Wekilled two at the table. When we informed the waiter their honest response was, “ the owner knows we have told them and hedoesn’t care”. We’ll guess what, after coming here for years we will never be returning. I have been here once before. It reminds me of PF Changs. The food is much higher quality than your average Chinese restaurant... and the service and atmosphere is really good. I had the beef and vegetables. The beef was very tender and the flavor was good. Read more

Delicious and well-made Dim Sum, especially the shrimp dumplings and the lobster dumplings. Beautiful and tastefully designed... interior with white tablecloths for lunch service. Spacious interior dining with COVID safeguards. Ample outdoor seating isavailable. A bit pricey but it's fine dining at an upscale Chinese restaurant with a full bar.
