This property is not for everyone. The variance between their website images and reality is significant. It is quirky and in... need for much TLC. It has the potential to be wonderful but it charges as if it has been refurbed which is the biggestdisappointment. We made our one & only visit. I wish them well. Read more

Great people, but the property can use some TLC. The stay was relaxing and memorable, but it could be so much more with a... little extra effort. I found myself judging the gardening details often. Great beds and air conditioning. Read more

We enjoyed the spacious well-furnished suites, historic feel of the house, and beautiful grounds. Everyone who interacted with... us was friendly. However, the house is old and this impacts the experience. During our stay, there was a repair being done inthe kitchen so they had to close it for dinner. For breakfast, we were served what felt like reheated frozen sausages andpancakes without butter on disposable plates. This was disappointing because the personalized "breakfast" in a "bed andbreakfast" is what most people look forward to. In our room, one of the blinds had fallen off from a window that was diagonallyfacing the bedroom and wasn't repaired before our stay, so we had an uncovered window facing our bed. I had no hot water duringmy bath - slightly warm was the best I could get. This was not helped by the lack of personal attention given to the guests. For dinner we had made a reservation in advance as the website recommends, but no one called to let us know the restaurant hadbeen closed - we found out when we arrived. During breakfast, it seemed like most of the staff were focused on fixing thekitchen (understandable) but as a result seemed distracted. The guest next to us had informed the B&B in advance that she wasgluten intolerant but had to remind them and even then only received plain gluten free bread, more than halfway through themeal. In our rooms, the lady who checked us in noticed the fallen blinds but tried to dismiss it saying that it was in a hallwayjust outside the bedroom, but since was no door to the hallway it was a direct line of sight to the bed. Though there were manyapologies for the kitchen, it would have been nice for someone to at least ask us how we found our stay (we were told to checkourselves out) and show some effort to make up for it. I know they're working hard to improve the condition of the house, soperhaps these things will get better. But more needs to be done to justify a nearly $300/night luxury room rate. Read more

Beautiful historic inn, but not so much a tavern! The grounds are beautiful and they are trying to use a lot of local products.... They have a lot of work updating the property, so we hope our next visit we will see about a 5 Star rating. Read more

We stayed two nights, our room was nice but did need some TLC. Bed was comfortable. Inn was convenient for sightseeing the area... and finding trails to walk. The property also has a trail you can walk. Everyone was friendly. The food was good. We enjoyeddinner one evening and breakfast (breakfast included in stay). We would stay again. Read more

Soon as you pull up the long driveway you feel like your going back in time. Everyone that works there acts like your family ... right from the start. They always ask can we get you anything which is also nice. We brought our 2 dogs which didn't want toleave they loved it so much. A trail right on the property with a stream for swimming and clean enough to drink. Food was greatwe even joined in on there Easter cookout which we met plenty of good people. Highly recommended we also went to the ShenandoahNational Park which is only an hr away which was amazing. Oh and I almost forgot the view from the backyard here isbreathtaking!!! Read more
