Indifferent sushi, overpriced and terrible service. Much better option next door at Sarku. They forgot my shrimp tempura then... hung up when I called to ask why I didn't receive it. Read more

We ordered sushi and tempura. My husband picked up the order, and they shorted us tempura. My husband called back, and the lady... just HUNG UP ON HIM. Forget this place, they're so rude, take your money elsewhere. Read more

This place is horrible! Came for dinner, and the lady that always attends at the cafe is very nasty, disrespectful and wants to... kick you out before closing time. We ordered a volcano and dragon roll, dragon was really good. Volcano on the other had wasvery bad salty and very spicy. Please do not come to that restaurant anymore. Read more

I have never experienced such rude treatment. I placed an order at 6pm for a 6:45 pickup. My husband arrived and asked three... times for the order and she ignored him every single time. I called at 7:15 and the woman picked up the phone, placed me onhold, heard me say “hi I placed an order….”and then cut me off and said “can’t talk now- very busy!” And literallyHUNG UP. I understand being busy, but I have never experienced this in my life. They ignore customers and hang up. On top of it,the sushi was thin, rice was hard, and covered in wasabi. Bring your business elsewhere. Read more

In the area so I tried this place based on the good reviews. When I opened the take out box, I can only gasped. Order sashimi... for one lunch special with 14-piece of fish per menu, it only had 10, and it all looked butchered, like scrap ends. It doesn’tlook like any of the review picture I have seen, or any places that served sushi; it’s simply not appetizing. While thisplace’s cost is cheaper than other spots nearby, I don’t think I’ll come back. Read more

The fish is very fresh but the rice.. the rice. It’s simultaneously undercooked and mushy. I’ve never taken a roll apart to... eat before but my jaw started to hurt. The sashimi is also paper thin (like it’s just cut for sushi without rice). Read more

What a delightful, “best kept secret” kind of a gem in a nondescript shopping strip on busy Essex Street... Excellent... service, extensive menu, large, tasty portions... ending with a mini probiotic drink and a special Oreo dessert treat. I had thelunch box which was filled to the brim with assorted items, enough for 2 meals. Other dishes were served in small wooden boats! And we all got served tea with a big mug and a full pot of tea per person! Can you tell I was pleased?! Thanks for sharing thisfind, Friend! Read more

As mentioned in many other reviews, great food with to-the-point service. Think of it like this: you aren't going to get asked... how the kids are doing. You'll just be asked what you'd like to order, and then to pay at the end. Know that going into it. Andthere are service bells on the table - use them if you have to. It isn't considered rude. But back to the great food, werecently had: - chicken katsu which was great, very nicely fried, and a very significant portion size - three roll lunch: eelroll, Alaska roll, and yellowtail roll -- each of which was of higher quality/deliciousness than the average sushi restaurantsin the area. We were very impressed by these sushi rolls. Probably the best thing about the trip, and that's good news foranyone looking for sushi. - bulgogi lunch box: probably our least favorite of the three, but still a good meal and a decentvalue considering everything it contains. So all in all, a Sushi Cafe exceeded our expectations. The food arrived quickly, thesushi was excellent and the other meals were good, and the location is easy to get to. Definitely recommended.
