good taste but do not come in busy time. the quality of food will be really bad. we have waited about one hour. The last dish... we asked to cancel it, the first waited said it's already cooked. After 10 nins. , another waited told us now it's your turn. I am so confused, the two people said totally different words, we realized it might be a lie to let us do not cancel the dish. we are sssso disappointed. Read more

We looked forward to coming because this restaurant is strongly recommended by friends. We found the interior pleasant and the... service courteous but the food does not live up to the price tag. The "cross-bridge rice noodle" uses a lot of substituteingredients such as bell peppers, fish tofu, and yes, SPAM. I'd be okay with that if they charged 10, not 15 dollars. Theportion is pretty large, but that doesn't do it for me. Additionally, the service staff should at least wear consistent matchingattire to make the place look more professional. We spent almost $50 after tax and tip for a bowl of noodles , a fried rice, anda tofu appetizer with no drinks. Even with the gift escargot and yorgot it's too much. Edit: I appreciate the owner's responseand I felt better about my purchase. My suggestion is that if you wish to be a upscale restaurant with original and high qualityfood then do not compromise on 1. utensils (the spoon I used had peeling chrome paint) 2. service staff training and attire, 3.menus (lots of scotch tape and permanent marker will not help) 4. ingredients, no SPAM. 5. Environment, remove clutter (kitchensupplies should not appear in the dining room). If you have a consistent upscale appearance, then you can charge $25 for a bowlof noodles and I will pay for it and treat it as a romantic night out. Appearance is reality. Right now, you are notcompromising on your soup but you are compromising on plenty else. Read more

One of the most authentic Chinese restaurants I've been to! I was a bit taken aback by the price at first but it was worth it. I... recommend the mushroom dish and fish in copper pot! Read more

Having lived and worked in Kunming, Yunnan, for many years I was very excited to visit this restaurant with its Yunnan menu. ... Our first visit was very enjoyable sitting by a window near the entrance. But my recent visit was in the centre of the largemain room and was uncomfortable, untidy, and not enjoyable. To say that this is a typical Yunnan room layout is untrue and Iwould suggest placing some typical Chinese-style screens in various places to improve customer's comfort. Service is not good, which is not surprising if there are no Yunnan servers (Beijing servers without Yunnan knowledge are very annoying). Canadiancustomers would also appreciate some ethnic clothing. The 10% service charge is not a good idea. Read more

I went to five fortune for lunch, and the experience is less than mediocre. The set up of the restaurant is interesting, they... had a stage with music instruments hanging around in the middle of the restaurant, and some curtains here and there, AND a birdbath close to the front of the restaurant (very strange). Usually I like restaurants that have a clean appearance, which thisplace does NOT have. It is overall exotic, messy and greasy looking. The server was fast but rude, and she was in fullsporty-ish attire with a fanny pack (again, weird). The noodle I got was disappointing, the real recipe requires at leastshitake mushroom and a type of cured meat close to prosciutto, instead they had plain mushroom slices and SPAM! Although I onlyhad the noodle (no drink, no nothing), the bill came to over 16 dollars. I probably will not come back to this restaurant. Ijust read the review from other people and apparently they gross up the bill by 10%, which is fraud. I guess it is a one starplace after all. Also thank you for the explanation on the 10% but it is cheating if you charge 10% extra without telling and Itip 15% on top of that. Read more

Most of the food had a very strong taste and ridiculously overpriced. Service was subpar and inflexible. We ordered a dish only... for the kitchen to tell us that they didn't have all the ingredients, so they changed the dish without letting us know first andinsisted that we take it and pay for it. Tables, chairs, and washroom did not seem clean. Only redeeming factor was that aselect few dishes were actually quite good. Update - Response to Owner's Comment: Thank you for your response. The main reasonwhy I left a poor review was because your restaurant did not consult with us before changing the dish. Instead, the kitchencooked the dish and only told us about it afterwards, and after much insistence to accept it, we reluctantly agreed. I neverclaimed your restaurant forced us to take the replaced dish, but rather that you insisted on it to the point where we felt wehad to. However, the replaced dish was actually very good in the end so compliments from that end. I just think the situationcould have been handled a lot better than it was. No hard feelings though.
