A good friend of mine used to work with Stephen Galt and his brother so stopping by his restaurant while in LA was a must. This... is easily the best restaurant on our trip with fantastic presentations from this Iron Chef slayer. We started with a PepperoniPizza with Calabrian Chile Oil & Honey which was brick oven crisp, spicy and so fresh tasting, and the manager told us this washis favorite. Next was an amazing Sicilian Shrimp Rigatoni in a Pistachio Pesto sauce that was the star of the show, and ourwaitresses favorite. We also had a Beef Belly Mushroom Duxelle Fetuccini that was very, very good, but was missing theadvertised Thai Basil. Fantastic Italian wine selections. Sorry, no room for dessert. This is an neighborhood restaurant andyou'll need reservations. Put this place on your list! How can I share something great with out completely taking away my chance at a walk up seat to some of the greatest meals I have... ever had in my life. Spartina feels farm to table as if it were grown on a Mediterranean farm that magically appeared onMelrose. The outdoor seating with fresh fruit and olive trees give a true living garden atmosphere. The food has magical in itstexture and and unexplainable amount of dimension ?so much dimension. Thank you Spartina for creating such a great experience. Read more

Very good pastas as you?d expect, good appetizers, and lots of drink options. We sat outside so I?m not sure how it looks... inside. The pork tenderloin appetizer was great! That cheesecake was an absolute no for me though and I love cheesecakenormally. I took one bite and couldn?t even push myself to eat more of it lol but all the entrees and appetizers were good. Iwould return. Our server was SO nice though and made some great suggestions. I can?t remember his name but he was super sweet. Read more

Spartina is a fantastic Italian Restaurant "hidden" right on Melrose. We came here for Valentine's Dinner where they featured a... prixe fixe menu. First we had starters which had some surprises. The Gigante Beans, which were literally just big beans, weresurprisingly good. They had lemon herb flavor. The Arancini was fine, too dry I think, but the "Spaghetti Pie", which was just aglob of spaghetti, was great! The marinara sauce had lots of flavor. Next we had the Lobster Capaletti and Grilled Avocado withBaja shrimp. Both were very good. Up next were the mains. We had the skirt steak and short rib stuffed tortellini. Thetortellini was ok, I don't think the short rib flavor came through enough the tortellini is self and brown butter sauce was verytasty. The star of the night though was the skirt steak. Everything on that plate was awesome. Meat was cooked perfectly and hadgreat flavor that went well with the chimichurri. The brussel sprouts and roasted potatos were so good. Finally for desert, wehad bread pudding and the signature walnut pie. Both were very very good. The service and ambiance were also top notch. Thepatio area was very nice and our server helped us choose all the dishes. Definitely want to come back soon and try several moredishes from their normal menu. We for sure adding Spartina to our Italian short list. Read more

Nice atmosphere, reasonably priced wine list, food was good. Try the pork belly, Caesar Salad, and a few pastas and end with... tiramisu. Service was average. I guess once a restaurant automatically includes gratuity service disappears. Read more

We loved our lunch at Spartina. The lovely Naomi hosted us and guide us through the coherent menu. She is so knowledgeable. The... atmosphere is relaxing like sitting on an Italian Terrace. The decoration is a cocktail of modern and rustic. The Food isabsolutely delicious and authentic. Read more

I love this restaurant. Their food is always nuanced in it?s flavors and their delivery is consistently good. I had never been... for brunch but ordered their salmon toast. It was amazing. I?m clearly not a food blogger as i had already dug in when Iremembered to take a photo. Fresh squeezed orange juice was incredible as well. Read more

Spacious and pretty outdoor areas and decent Italian offerings but our server did not have very good understanding of the menu... so recommended a completely wrong dish. However, as soon as we raised our concern they went out of their way to rectify. Read more
