How can you go wrong with a place open for 45 years ? You can. My wife stopped at 5:45 and they were closed, so on Friday she... went at 5:11 and they were closing. We should have taken the hint. Tacos $4. About 3 tablespoons on 2 flour tacos cleverlyfolded to not make a mess. 3 each made a meal. Zero cheese, zero salsa. Just meat. Never again. Read more

I have only ever ordered the burgers here so I cannot attest to the rest of their menu. That being said... one of my favorite... burgers in LA and I have had a lot. You cant go wrong but the chili cheese burger is especially sloppy and delicious. They arealso very nice and well priced here. Read more

One of my favorite bean and cheese burritos in the city. Good balance, and the beans are still pretty intact so the texture is... refreshing compared to something like Al & Bea's (one of my other favorite's). Service here is always amazing. Everyone hustlesand they're always nice to anyone who walks up to the window. Their whole menu is solid, and the burger is actuallysurprisingly delicious. Read more

Been coming here for 20 years now and it?s still as good as ever. Everyone is lovely. First time trying the double cheeseburger... and was not disappointed, but the carne asada and the cochinita pibil are also incredible. Read more

Best burritos in LA. Nothing fancy here. Make sure you ask for the pickled peppers. Carnitas is my favorite. Made with beans, no... cheese or other fixings. Simple. Read more

I had heard a fair amount of praise for the "Cochinita Pibil Taco" at Yuca's on Hillhurst, a Yucatecan food shack in Los Feliz... that has been in operation since 1976. Along the way, this unassuming establishment picked up a James Beard Award in the"American Classics" category in 2005, 10 years before Guelaguetza, the only other Mexican eatery in L.A. that has won the sameaward. Bottom line is that I was disappointed with Yuca's overhyped "Cochinita Pibil Taco" but loved their "DoubleCheeseburger." First, the "Cochinita Pibil Taco": - double white corn tortillas pulled from a bag - sweet citrus and achiotewere the dominant flavors; the sour element was non-existent in the recaudo rojo to the point where it really did not taste likecochinita pibil at all (not to say what I ate was terrible, it just wasn't what I ordered) - the pork used to make the pibiltasted funny and possibly was spoiled or had slight boar taint - the taco comes topped with chopped tomatoes and fresh onions, not pickled onions (the latter being a more traditional accompaniment) - the taco is served wrapped in foil And now the "DoubleCheeseburger": - bun toasted in burger grease on both sides - crusty burger patties covered in melted gooey cheese with enoughvegetal condiments to provide the "illusion of freshness" - on par with an "In N Out" double-double but somehow came out wayfaster - all of the above statements about the burger are "features," not "bugs" In short, Yuca's ought to move on fromregional Mexican cuisine and instead start a burger chain. Tiny, overpriced turdburgers - you're better off going to McDonald's. The double cheeseburger that I ordered here was a greasy,... tasteless mess. The carne asada burrito is small & overpriced - the flavor, meh. I haven't bothered with the tacos - I didn'twant to be disappointed again. I have no idea why there are so many positive reviews for this place - it's just not thatgood. Seriously, if you want a good burger, take (less of) your money and go to In-N-Out. Read more
