It's good food.... I wouldn't necessarily call it French! The cod dish on a bed of lentils with a good pinot gris is quite... lovely. However that desert they tried to pass for a napoleon is so far from that concept; its just not cool to have in yourmouth. Read more

Wonderful French food, with attentive service. Some tables, those outside and in the window, can be very romantic. French music... makes the atmosphere complete. Read more

Fantastique! Our family's new favorite restaurant, I don't know how we missed this gem the first few months they were open! They... strike just the right balance of true French flavors and aesthetic while being super high quality but not being pretentious.Thank you Epernay for bringing us the flavors of home and having a can-do attitude on everything, including making a cool, shadyspace for our giant husky :) Read more

The service was outstanding! The food was just average. I had the prawn cocktail which was good. Six pieces for $14 was very... reasonable. We both had the Bibb lettuce salad. The lettuce leaves needed to be cut in smaller pieces. The hazelnuts did nothingfor the salad and the dressing was tasteless. My wife had the salmon which was cooked well and tasty. I had what was describedas slow braised short ribs. In fact it was a piece of over-cooked chuck roast. It was served with mushrooms and small slices offingerling potatoes. The plate was $34 when you can buy chuck roast at the grocery store for $9 a pound. The bread was warm buttasteless and the butter was tasteless as well. The sign of a good restaurant food is the seasoning. The cooks here need tounderstand how to properly season food. Read more

My new favorite spot in the area. Every dish is delicious and reasonably priced. Perfect for a special dinner but not too... extravagant. Read more

UPDATE: My wife and I finally made it back to Epernay for dinner. Our expectations were high after having a good experience at... brunch. But dinner is the real test of a restaurant like this and I’m sad to say that we were disappointed. We ordered acouple of classic French bistro dishes: poulet roti and steak frites. The chicken (served with pureed potatoes and broccolini)was ok according to my wife. Although I ordered my steak medium rare, it arrived well done. It was cooked properly after ourserver replaced it, but the steak was still much too thin, fatty, and gristly to command a $42 price tag. Paper-thin ribeyeisn’t typical for this dish, so a different cut of meat might have made a difference. Ending on a positive note, at least thebeignets (served with warm caramel syrup) were just right for dessert. Service was ok, but not exceptional given that therestaurant was less than half full. I was hoping to raise my rating from four to five stars. But based on our dinner, I’mlowering it to three stars (i.e. “average”). To be fair, Epernay has only been open for a couple of months so we’ll givethem another chance sometime soon. ORIGINAL REVIEW 6/1/2021: This cute little French Bistro is a terrific addition to thedowntown Los Gatos dining scene. We reserved a table for Saturday brunch and were seated promptly on their outdoor patio. Iliked their take on a classic BLT, served on a croissant. My wife had Eggs Benedict with smoked salmon which she really enjoyedtoo. We shared a side order of perfectly cooked pomme frites. Food was priced fairly given the quality of ingredients. Welingered over a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc which we thought was a good value too. We didn’t have a chance to meet thechef/owner Ty, (who’s also a sommelier) but it turns out that our very helpful server, Katie, is his girlfriend. Servicealways seems to be better when its all in the “family”. It takes quite a lot to earn a five star review from me since itimplies that there’s Read more

Lovely new French bistro, with a sleek white logo on the front window reflecting the beautiful town of Los Gatos. The Boeuf... Bourguignon was slow braised to the right texture with a great balance of flavors from the beef, bacon, vegetables, and redwine—not too heavy, just right. It paired really well with the ZD Pinot on the reserve wines by the glass list. The beeftartare and salmon rillette were unassuming yet very well seasoned, great for starting off of the dinner with a glass ofbubbles. The plating and presentation felt genuine, comfortable, and not pretentious. Overall a great dining experience, andwe’d love to come back. Would be curious to see if there are occasional seasonal specials. It would also be great to see evenmore selections on the reserve wine and champagne list, perhaps some from smaller, high-quality producers, in addition to thebig names. Read more
