O M G The Dover Sole may be the single best piece of fish I've had, ever. I've eaten at some of the best restaurants in the... country as well as many abroad, and can tell you the shrimp cocktail, the Sole, the sides, the bourbon bread pudding, and thewhiskey menu are all in an elite strata. Our server, Mikaela, took incredible care of us, shared interesting and usefulinformation on the building, the area, and the menu. She was the icing on top of this dining experience cake! Repeal Oak-Fired Steakhouse was amazing. The elegance of the restaurant and the atmosphere was such a surreal feeling. The back... history of this building and the new design of the restaurant was so cool. From the time you get to the outside of therestaurant you can smell the white oak fire in the air. My wife and I celebrated our 10 year wedding anniversary there andcouldn't of asked for a better experience. Our waiter was ANDREI and he was awesome and he made our night. The amount of time hespent with us at our table explaining the menu and the many options was great. You never felt rushed to make a decision or feltlike they needed to turnover the table. This was truly an dinning experience. Joe the restaurant manager also stopped by on uson several occasions to check in with us to ensure a great experience. To top it all off they surprised us with a homeade breadpudding dessert with a Bourbon Glaze sauce on top that was to die for. I'd like to bottle that Bourbon Glaze and drink it with astraw. ???????? From the moment we approached the host stand and through our departure, the entire experience was delightful. You always find... that fine dining can be a little “stuffy”. However, Repeal ensures that you can absolutely have the best meal Louisville hasto offer while having fun as well. Our server, Ibrahim, was attentive and extremely knowledgeable of bourbon and the menuofferings. His humor and table side manner was what set off the experience from other white table cloth restaurants in the city.We enjoyed his conversation and as cheesy as it sounds, we feel like we made a friend along the way. Every course of the mealwas debated as the highlight as they were all incredible. I will be dreaming tonight of the Oyster Rockefeller and the DoverSole though. I came in ready to order one of their highly recommended filets (it is a steakhouse after all), but again ourserver listened attentively to my questions and led me to the Dover Sole. First off, this is an incredible space. The menu and the wine/whiskey lists are exceptional and there are many value buys on... the list. The food is top notch, see pics on this review for proof. Superb dinner & brunch. We ate here twice while staying at Distil. Smaller dining room, reservation is an absolute must for... dinner. Unfortunately we were seated near the kitchen for both meals and it is a tad loud. Staff are very attentive. Extensivewine and bourbon list, though in some cases you can purchase a bottle for their price on a pour (aka typical hotel mark-up).Portion sizes are reasonable and filling. Shrimp cocktail was delicious with just the right amount of spice in the sauce. Steakwas perfectly seasoned and prepared at the right temperature. Side dish portions are generous and shareable. Sweet potato coulddouble as a desert. Asparagus has a nice touch of balsamic. Breakfast is less crowded, bacon is amazing - thick and flavorful.Waffles were perfectly prepared. Absolutely outstanding! Started our evening at the bar for oysters and bourbon. Dennis was unbelievable! Very knowledgeable on... any bourbons and wine. The selection of bourbon is truly special and appreciated! Our meal was outstanding! My wife and I havemade this our go to spot when we visit Louisville! The GM (very well dressed) stopped by our table and just was a truerestaurant professional. I will start off by saying our service was amazing. Our waitress was attentive and swift. The food was really high in quality,... but the restaurant seem to have a obsession with salt. They sprinkle large grain sea salt on everything, even the bread wasblanketed by it and same with our asparagus. I was surprised our bread pudding didn’t suffer the same fate. The main dish, thesteak was cooked perfectly, the texture was amazing, except it was overpowered by salt. I will say the truffle pasta wasamazing, the oysters we ordered were very fresh, and the bread pudding was a delight. I feel like they add the salt foraesthetics, when it’s absolutely not necessary. Their ingredients are high quality, they should trust in the natural flavor ofthe food. I would go back for the dessert and pasta, but I was not happy with their namesake steak. Read more
