We really enjoyed our meal here. Many restaurants in the area had long wait times, so I appreciated the fact this was a more... casual dining, but still delicious experience. You stand in line, order/pay, and then find a seat (all outdoor dining). Theygive you a buzzer and when it goes off, you come pick up your food. Loved the fish sandwich and the chowder! Read more
Atmosphere in this restaurant was lively. Food was delicious, my little children loved the fish and chips. The poutine was... tasted great too. Patio had wonderful views of the harbour and we got to listen to live Acadian music while eating. Willdefinitely be back next time I'm in town. Read more
On an evening where there was at minimum, 90 minute wait at every other place, the fish shack can really come to the... rescue. Simple menu - simple ordering system, get in line, place the order, pick it up, and either eat on their incrediblepatio or take it to eat somewhere else along the waterfront (seagulls are around to share if necessary) The fish tasted freshand the breading was not overly oily - the fries were a bit too thin for fish and chips fries? You order at the counter and pay. They give you a pager and tell you that you'll pick up your order at that window. If you... order drinks, you'll carry them to your table. Technically it's a self-serve system but considering the fact that almostevery business in town is short-staffed as they're having a hard time finding employees, this system works just fine! They dohave staff that they clean up tables after you're done and in our case we were asked if we needed anything else. The two piecefish and chips ($17) was good but a tad greesy even though we asked for it to be crispy. The Garden Salad ($8.5]) was fresh andcrisp. The Chowder ($12.95) had decent amount of haddock and potato but it lacked seasoning and there was a layer of oil on top(see photo.) They had two beer on tap and the refill on sodas are free. At 11:30 a.m. we were looking for a place to have lunch at Lunenberg. Most of the restaurants open at twelve noon, luckily we... found the Fish Shack. We ordered Haddock Chowder, Lobster Bun with Hand Cut Fries, Steamed Lobster served with coleslaw, lemonbutter, potato salad and half a cob of corn. Lobster was really fresh, steamed perfectly and tasted so good. The chowder andlobster bun tasted alright. There's a good view of the dock in indoor seating though one has to go downstairs and bring the foodordered and paid for in the counter. They also have a patio for outdoor seating. We stopped by The South Shore Fish Shack for a late lunch / early dinner during our visit to Lunenburg. It was a little busy... but, we were seated right away. The weather wasn?t great but, we still enjoyed sitting outside. We had a few beers and orderedtheir LOBSTER BUN, FISH & CHIPS and DIGBY CLAMS. Had a great experience on the last Saturday of the open season. We were visiting from out of town and received a few... recommendations to visit if we had the chance. Portion size was fantastic and the team working was very kind and eager to chat.We were incredibly lucky with a beautiful day to eat on the patio overlooking the harbour.
