After a great day of hiking we wanted a great burger. Cascade Restaurant and Pub did not disappoint. Many specialty burger options and prices. I had the Wild burger which was fabulous with homemade chips, recommend the sweet potatoe fries. Many local tap beer selections as well as an outdoor tent for eating when busy.
This place really sucks...! The service sucks, the fish and chips was greasy and tuff. The only thing that was good was the Cream Ale which they could not screw up. Grand Marais is a beautiful location, but obviously a sleezy tourist trap. I will never go back to this restaurant and probably will never go to Grand Marais again.
We enjoyed dinner at this busy summer spot. It was a little different arrangement as they don?t do typical table service. The process involves coming in, grabbing a menu, trying to claim a table, getting in line, placing your order, and then the food is delivered when it is ready. We visited on a Tuesday night around 6: 30. The staff were working hard but it was still a fairly lengthy wait (close to an hour before we received our food).
Vegan option. We try to not inconvenience anyone and look at their menu online before going in so we don't waste their time or ours because they work real hard to provide a great menu to their customers the way they want to. This is a case of we weren't really feeling premade vegan patties because that's the majority of what they have on the North Shore. We looked online and thought we saw some vegan options. Turns out they have just one. It's not half bad, it's an Impossible Chicken Sandwich. It is vegan, they're doing great by offering it. This place does seem to be more a bar then a restaurant and had some fantastic music playing while we were in. The gluten free bun the sandwich comes on wasn't bad, but skip it if you don't care about eating gluten. The rest of their menu looked real great. I'd have tried most everything on their menu if I ate meat and dairy. I find it especially unique they offer a Wild mix which is Venison, Elk and Bison mixed if I remember correctly. That seems real good for the meat eaters out there. Try it for me and let me know how it is.
Great diner with a coffee shop and brew-pub feel combined into one. The food was way way way above my expectations. I recommend this place, you will love it without a doubt.
Lovely place to have a meal during a drive along the north shore. They had plenty of vegetarian and vegan options. Food and service were both faultless. Service was quick and the staff were accommodating and super friendly. We placed an order at the counter and they brought it out to our table. We ordered the American bowl, Mediterranean bowl, bruschetta and a basket of waffle fries. This was perfect quantity for four of us. The view from the tables near the glass window is stunning ! There are even picnic tables on the other side of the road and there?s a nice outdoor seating area adjacent to the indoor restaurant seating area. You can check that out as well. Bottom line: I would highly recommend a stop here during your drive.
Great place to stop in after a long day of hiking, driving, seeing sights. Plenty of parking and lots of seating indoors. It is self service (walk up and order) and all of the staff were extremely attentive and caring. We ordered a variety of different meals and everything was fresh and flavorful. Can't wait to stop by again on our next visit to the North Shore!!
We had 2 dinners there this past week. We had a family of 24 - sisters, cousins and kids. They were more than accommodating and the food was spectacular. My favorite was the grain bowl. My husband loved the panko crusted walleye. We would HIGHLY RECOMMENDING
