Wow, truly amazing experience - from the food, the owner, the quaint location - everything! Jo is so wonderful and makes some of... the best food I've ever had in Maine. Homemade with love, and much of it fresh from her garden! I recommend the weinerschnitzel, the Jaeger schnitzel, the poutine, and whatever she has as the dessert special! Make the trip to eat here, you'll beso happy you did. Read more

We ate here back to back days, foregoing in-season lobster rolls and local fare. Jo's menu has its own tide, that ebbs and flows... with what she has fresh in-season in her backyard garden. The fried schnitzel is incredible, a squeeze of lemon and the saltycrunch takes you to a new place. Her poutine is unique and comforting - straying away from the heavy oxtail gravy and insteadcoating the crispy fries in a German gravy that is a little sweet, a little sour with deep flavors. Jo has a natural talent thatwould earn her a bustling restaurant in Portland, but she delivers world class cuisine from a concession truck beside her homeon quaint Machias. 100%, absolutely a must-go. Worth a trip in itself. Read more

Food is generally very good especially the CurryWurst, but unfortunately the hours and days that it is open are extremely random... and appears to open and close on a wim. I have given up trying to catch this place open. Not a good way to run a stablebusiness, seems like just a hobby to me. Read more

1 star - food quality 1 star - food quantity 1 star - food price 0 star - location 2 stars - service 5 stars - total What the... place lacks in dining accommodations (parking lot, though not too bad really), it makes up for with everything else. The personbehind it all is charming, motivated, and dedicated to serving good, homemade food. Considering the food quality, portion sizes, and taste, the prices are perfect. We tried schnitzel and bratwurst with homemade potato salad, and it was filling anddelicious. Read more

The fresh elderflower wild blueberry juice and elderflower strawberry juice is so so so good and refreshing, you must order it. ... We tried both flavors and although both were amazing, my favorite was the blueberry. The bratwurst burger was a must order item,so flavorful and definitely the similar quality as to what we have had while in Germany. The outdoor seating is fun as it was ahigh table with bar stools and had a nice sun shade over it. We would stop again especially for the wild blueberry elderflowerlemonade. Read more

Pulled in because I have heard good things and there's a sign outside for cold brew (besides the schnitzel). Ordered cold brew... and a schnitzel sandwich. The 2 kids working there were clueless. They couldn't find the coffee so I couldn't have it. Waitedtoo long and then were served the schnitzel full meal when we only orders sandwich. It was way too salty so we threw most of itaway very disappointing experience. Read more

We found this on a recent trip through Down East, Maine. This place is the real deal. Owner is originally from Germany and... studied the culinary arts there. They make their own schnitzel and brats in the authentic fashion. No casings. Although theyof course also have wiener style. And the bread/rolls everything comes on is fresh and local from right next door. We triedthe Jager Hunters and the Zigeuner Gypsy in both traditional pork and chicken. All varieties were really tasty! And the frieswere crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. So the combinations were excellent. Keep in mind they make everythingfrom scratch. This is not fast food. You usually have to wait 5-10 minutes before your food is ready but it is well worth thewait. They also serve Shiretown Coldbrew, a nice blueberry tea lemonade, and a strawberry lemonade. All nice in the summerheat. I would definitely recommend these folks! Also, they sometimes take the wagon to festivals and faires. But thislocation is their home base. Read more
